Nakuru County Government - Official, through the Department of Health Services, hereby notifies the public of unclaimed bodies currently held at county hospital mortuaries, despite sustained efforts to trace relatives and next of kin.

At Annex Hospital – Nakuru, the mortuary is holding 17 unclaimed adult bodies and 21 unclaimed infant bodies. At the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital (NCRTH), 11 unclaimed adult bodies remain unclaimed. These bodies have been in the mortuaries beyond the legally stipulated period, three months, consuming resources in preservation and other logistics.

In line with the Public Health Act (Cap 242) and established mortuary management procedures, the County has issued a 21-day public notice. Should the bodies remain unclaimed after this period, the Department will proceed with lawful and dignified disposal.

Members of the public who may have information regarding the deceased persons, or who believe they may be relatives, are urged to visit the respective hospital mortuaries within the notice period with proof of relationship for verification and necessary arrangements.

A detailed list of the deceased is attached for reference.

This notice is issued in the interest of public health, dignity of the deceased, and responsible mortuary management.

Issued by the Directorate of Public Health, Department of Health Services, County Government.

Participation of MAPAKe Officials in the Validation Meeting on the Mortuary Practitioners Scope of Practice.

Officials led by the National Chairperson actively participated in the validation meeting for the proposed Scope of Practice for Mortuary Personnel, held at the MΓΆvenpick Hotel, Westlands, Nairobi.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders involved in the regulation, training, and implementation of Mortuary services in Kenya, with strong technical and logistical support from the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority, the World Health Organization (WHO), and Ideal Health Organization.

During the validation process, MAPAKe officials provided critical professional input grounded in field experience and practice realities in our mortuaries at all levels.
