We have been quiet for a little whike as routine visits were continuing to households to encourage them to build latrines. Now we are convinced who are the families who really need some support so now we are recycling these blue plastic barrels as pit liners and tops. BahariHai

Interesting to see all the different toilet styles being constructed around our villages. One of the barriers was not cost but fear of having them collapse and falling into the pit. Once people learnt the system of offset toilet and pit they have been building them. Needs a bit of water of course which could be a problem. Someone even built a latrine attached to their house.

Our Story

We are a small grass-roots organization in Kilifi County aiming to improve the health of our community through health promotion activities such as house visits, support groups, and school-based activities. Our main work focuses on HIV, reproductive health, family planning, hygiene, sanitation and jigger (tungiasis) control. We have increased attendance of ANC clinics, safe deliveries and most famously, reduced tungiasis from 20% to less than 1% among our school children.
