🥳👏Today, we proudly celebrate a significant milestone—three (3) of our ambassadors have successfully psychoeducated over 50 students from Marsabit Mix Secondary School.

For the past three (3) months, we have been dedicated to empowering young people by training over 30 youths from Marsabit County as mental health ambassadors. We've been gradually mentoring them through providing exposure to undertake psychosocial programs as we guide and support them.

These achievements not only highlight our commitment to mental health but also paves the way for much-needed support in a region where mental health services are scarce.

As we continue to impact more lives and drive change, let's collaborate to make a lasting difference.

Caring for loved ones with mental health conditions can be an exhaustive and draining experience. Caregivers often endure stigma, stressors, and discrimination within the communities.

During our visits to six (6) homes (all identities concealed for confidentiality) Marsabit County, we've witnessed firsthand the resilience and dedication these families show while navigating the complexities of mental health care. We managed to psych educate, share practical coping strategies, and own self-care.

Their stories highlight the need for greater awareness, support, and understanding for both caregivers and individuals living with mental conditions.

Join us to reach more families! One family at a time.

As a pioneering mental health NGO operating in Marsabit County, we are dedicated to mentoring young Community-Based organizations (CBOs) to expand our scope of services and support vulnerable groups in the community. Recently, we met with officials from SIM CBO to discuss collaborative strategies to enhance mental health awareness across Marsabit county, a ward at a time.

In addition, we have been training these seven (7) officials along with over 25 youths from the same regions. Our goal is to foster a community that embraces and integrates mental health awareness into their cultural and daily lives.

We call upon like-minded individuals, stakeholders, governments, and fellow NGOs to join us in this significant endeavour. Together, we can bridge all mental health gaps among communities from Marsabit County and beyond.

What is childhood trauma?
Events or experiences that a child goes through that evoke fear and are often violent, dangerous, or life-threatening.

According to Kenya ACEs Statistics, an estimated 46% of children experience trauma at some point in their young lives.
In Kenya 🇰🇪 32% of females and 18% of males have experienced sexual violence, while 66% of females and 73% of males have experienced physical violence.

Early intervention to recognize and mitigate is very useful to prevent the long-term effects of childhood trauma into adulthood.

Are you aware? Part of prevention is awareness!

Do you know how express/behaves in response to traumatic events?🤔
remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children across the world. It is estimated that 40% of all deaths and 30% of disability in children aged 1–14 years are due to trauma. Moreover, an alarming 95% of trauma-related deaths are in low - and middle-income countries (LMICs), including Africa.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund consider paediatric trauma a major health concern requiring urgent attention in their World Report on Child Injury Prevention in 2008.

When children experience trauma, their responses can vary significantly based on their age, personality, and the nature of the traumatic event. The fight, flight & freeze, regression, Hyperarousal/ Hypervigilance, avoidance, and reenactment among others.
