WHAT IS CAREGIVING?
Caregiving refers to the provision of assistance to another person who is ill, disabled, or needs help with daily activities. It often requires attention to the physical, mental, social, and psychological needs and well-being of both the caregiver and the person requiring care.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CAREGIVER?
Some of the services offered by Caregivers include nursing care, physical or occupational therapy, hospice care - which mostly involves personal care, bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation and feeding, maintaining mobility, light housekeeping, companionship, taking and recording vital signs, any other errands, etc. Caregivers work closely with patients, providing important social and emotional support and are a vital source of information on the status of patients to medical staff.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A CERTIFIED CAREGIVER WITH BTI?
It takes successfully completing four weeks of classroom work, practicals and exams and four weeks of internship at a hospital, hospice or assisted living facility.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A CERTIFIED CAREGIVER WITH BTI?
It takes two months in total for the full-time and two and a half months part-time.
WHY SHOULD YOU BE CERTIFIED THROUGH BTI?
Earning a Caregiver certification through a reputable institution like BTI establishes you as an expert in the field. Some agencies, such as nursing homes and assisted living communities, require Caregiver certification as a condition for employment. WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH YOUR CAREGIVING QUALIFICATIONS?
Qualified students can get a job in Kenya as a caregiver and work in a hospital, clinic, hospice, home care agency, assisted living facility or private home.
Fortunately, BTI will be looking to absorb the highest achieving and qualified students into their in-house Caregiving and Homecare agency on a merit basis.
Qualified students can also choose to work anywhere in the world (e.g in the US, Canada, Australia, UK,etc) as a caregiver as long as they meet the country or the states licensing and working requirements which usually means sitting a licensing exam and then having permission to work there i.e a work permit.
Alternatively qualified students can choose to further their education by taking additional training/classes in any field of nursing or healthcare that they choose.

(All fully enrolled students get complementary work books, a stethoscope, an aneroid sphygmomanometer for measuring blood pressure and a gait belt).
Please pay your tuition, exam and scrub fees to our bank account (see details in the Apply section) and keep the receipt safe to present on the class registration or orientation day.
The Application fee will be paid at the start of the application process and can be done by bank deposit or through Mpesa.
The Uniform (Scrubs) will be fitted at BTI to ensure custom sizing and uniformity.
