Children's Surgical Centre is an NGO 501(c)3 registered in Alaska, USA (Alaska entity # 76640D). CSC is non-profit, non-political, and non-religious, and is widely recognized in Cambodia for providing a range of specialized rehabilitation surgical services, surgical training, and direct support to the people of Cambodia. CSC aims to improve the quality of life for disabled Cambodian children and adults by providing life-changing healthcare. Integral to this mission is a program of training local doctors and nurses, focusing on the development of sustainable health services. CSC provides a wide range of services, encompassing orthopedic surgery, eye surgery, plastic & burn surgery, ENT surgery, speech therapy, and physical therapy.

New CSC Blog Post: "Speech Therapy for Patients"
Aara & Bronagh, two newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists from the University of London, volunteered at CSC for several months. Here is their blog:
Over the past three months, we’ve been volunteering at CSC and other organisations in Cambodia, supporting children with cleft lip, palate, and hearing impairments as well as providing support and training to other professionals. CSC provides more than a hundred free cleft surgeries every year, supported by Smile Train, and many children require continued speech and language therapy. It’s been inspiring to work with the staff and further strengthen and support the development of their Speech and Language Therapy Department. We have fully enjoyed embracing the Cambodian culture, language, and healthcare system. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and we’ve enjoyed meeting and supporting families from across the country. Every day has been different, and we have learnt so much during our time here at CSC. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to further our knowledge and experience as newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists.

A huge thank you to the CSC team for making us feel so welcome. We’re excited to see how Speech and Language Therapy continues to grow in Cambodia!

New CSC Blog Post: "Patient Safety Enhancement"
Thank you to the anonymous U.S. donors who provided funding for TWO updated anesthesia machines!

Children’s Surgical Centre relies on safe and reliable anesthesia equipment to perform thousands of free, life-changing surgeries each year. Our current anesthesia machines were aging and increasingly difficult to service to support modern surgical care in Cambodia. Breakdowns can delay surgeries or reduce the number of patients we can safely treat. The hospital was able to purchase one updated anesthesia machine earlier this year, but a limited equipment budget did not allow us to purchase two more of the same machines for the other two main operating room tables. When anesthetists are familiar with a single standardized machine, they can focus fully on patient care rather than adjusting to different layouts or controls. When all staff use the same equipment, it’s easier to discuss settings, interpret alarms, and assist each other across operating rooms.

This generous contribution allows our anesthetists to use the same, standardized anesthesia machines. Because of this kindness:

Patients are safer. When every machine functions the same way, our anesthetists can respond instantly in critical moments.
Care is smoother and more efficient. Familiar equipment means fewer delays, fewer errors, and more focus on the child or adult on the operating table.
Training is easier for our team. Staff quickly learn one reliable system, strengthening care throughout the hospital.
Maintenance becomes simpler and more sustainable. Our biomedical team can keep equipment in excellent condition with fewer parts and easier repairs.

Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) in Phnom Penh provides free or low-cost, high-quality surgical care and rehabilitation to children and adults with disabilities across Cambodia. CSC will join friends and families across Cambodia in celebrating the 2025 Water Festival (Bon Om Touk) — a cherished national holiday that marks the end of the rainy season and the reversal of the flow of the Tonlé Sap River, a natural wonder unique to Cambodia. Our Story

The Children's Surgical Centre is an NGO 501(c)3 registered in Alaska, USA (Alaska entity # 76640D). CSC is non-profit, non-political, and non-religious, and is widely recognised in Cambodia for providing a range of specialized rehabilitation surgical services, surgical training, and direct support to the people of Cambodia.

Background Cambodia has gone through 30 years of war and genocide by the Pol Pot regime, in which educated citizens were targeted for ex*****on, causing the medical system to suffer. Many of Cambodia's disabled live in extreme poverty with surgically treatable conditions. Dr. Jim Gollogly, a British-American surgeon, founded Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) in 1998. Since that time, patient numbers and operations have grown exponentially.

Mission CSC aims to improve the quality of life for disabled Cambodian children and adults by providing life changing healthcare. Integral to this mission is a program of training local doctors and nurses, focusing on the development of sustainable health services. CSC provides a wide range of services, encompassing orthopedic surgery, eye surgery, plastic & burn surgery, ENT surgery, speech therapy, and physical therapy.

In 2017, CSC provided more than 25,000 consultations and 4,018 life-changing and life-saving surgeries – free of charge.
