AZAHAR Yoga and Arts Studio is supported by AZAHAR Foundation. AZAHAR Cambodia is a local not-for-profit organization that promotes peace building and cross-cultural communication through Yoga and the Arts supported by non-violent communication, youth-leadership, and other related methodologies. Current projects are in Cambodia, Rwanda and Ivory Coast. It is a Spanish word with an Arabic root and

is symbolic of the cross-cultural juxtapositions that color and flavor our beautiful planet. Being the first and last letter of the Roman alphabet, the A&Z symbolize the beginning and the end, the all-encompassing, the point and the zero. A blossom is a sign of new beginnings, and it indicates a new level of consciousness where humanity is able to live in peace and harmony. Within any population we teach, young leaders are identified and supported with professional training to become positive models of change within their communities. Through the conflict resolution and peace-building techniques of Yoga and the Arts, the escalating cycle of violence in conflict and post-conflict settings can be broken and recovery and rehabilitation can begin. Based on the pilot project in Cambodia, AZAHAR Foundation’s objective is to create satellite projects in several countries, with the aim of implementing international peace camps and conferences in professional yoga, dance, and music training, where young leaders are given opportunities to compare cultural experiences and to collaborate creatively with young people from around the world. The international conferences will culminate in artistic performances and touring projects that will serve to give young people a voice to raise awareness of the richness of cultural diversity and of humanitarian issues around the globe. On August 9, we welcomed a beautiful community into a shared space of presence, reflection, and connection, in celebration of International Youth Day under the theme: β€œYoga in the Age of Digital War: Cultivating Clarity, Compassion, and Truth.”

In a time when misinformation and emotional conflict spread quickly online, this space offered calm, awareness, and a shared intention to respond, not react.

Through breath, movement, and honest conversation, we explored how yoga helps us stay rooted in non-violence (Ahimsa), truth (Satya), and mindfulness in the digital age.

Thank you to everyone who brought your energy and presence, and to Victory for leading this meaningful event.

May the clarity we found today guide us through noisy times. πŸ™

β€œIt is too difficult to be just what we are.
The thinking mind cannot remain still when holding an image, imagination or picture.
Our body and mind are constantly changing with different images”

excerpt from Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati’s Essay β€˜World of Images’ dated 1/31/1986

Early on a Sunday morning in July, sitting on the front porch of our house in the Catskill Mountains of New York, an array of sounds from the forest flood my attention. The cells in my body receive this mix of nature’s spontaneous expressions, while intermittently my mind interrupts the flow of this receptivity with its need to pin an image to the source of each sound – an owl, a hummingbird, a cricket, a chipmunk, a cicada, nightingale, and some sounds to which the mind is unable to assign a source or image.

Feeling stressed, tense, or simply drained after a long week? Imagine giving your body deep rest and your mind the space to breathe, every Friday evening.

Join with Victory (Vic) Fridays at 6:00–7:00 PM in a gentle, peaceful Yin Yoga class intended to slow you down, stretch deeply, and release tension. You will have no need to be flexible or have any yoga background; this is an all-inclusive class.

_________________________

Yin Yoga is a gentle and calming practice that helps your body and mind slow down. In this class, we don’t move fast or do complicated poses. Instead, we stay in each position for a few minutes, allowing the body to soften and release tension.

You don’t need to be flexible or have any yoga experience. This practice is for anyone who wants to feel more relaxed, sleep better, or simply take a quiet moment for themselves.

It’s like giving your body a deep rest, and giving your mind space to breathe.
