Our Story
Indradhanu is the first private Child and Adolescent Mental Health clinic in Cambodia, founded in September 2014 by MSc, Dr. Kao Sambath, the outstanding Child and Adolescent Mental Health professional in the country, who have more than ten years of clinical experiences in the field. Indradhanu provides a specialty outpatient services for children and adolescents aged 0-18, who are suffering a range of psychiatric and/ or neuro-developmental problems.
Who are we?
We are a multi-disciplinary service. The staff include: child and adolescent psychiatrist, pediatrician, psychologists, child mental health nurses, special educators and art therapists. We offer a thorough assessment and diagnosis as well as provide a treatment plan for children and adolescents who suffer from emotional, behavioral and developmental problems and their families based on current best practice. Our therapeutic approaches comprise of the following: individual therapy, family therapy, behavioral therapy, parent counseling and medication therapy.
Why we chose Indradhanu to be our name?
In Hindu beliefs, the Indradhanu (rainbow) is a combination of Indra and Dhanu, the meaning in Hindi as well as in Sanskrit, is (dhanu mean bow) bow of Indra, the king of all the gods and is known for being a great warrior and is worshiped for delivering the rain. In Buddhist beliefs, the Indradhanu represent to the seven regions of the earth. It is the highest state achievable before attaining Nirvana, where individual desire and consciousness are extinguished.
Science related an Indradhnu is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that is caused by both reflection and refraction of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. Indradhanu caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun. The colors of the Indradhanu are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Red is at the outer part and violet at the inner side its excited children to see Indradhanu in the sky and marvel at it beauty.
Both mythology and the fact of the natural phenomenon show Indradhanu represent to positive symbol of the fertility, the energy, the breath and the beauty that gives people life.
