New CSC Blog Post: "International Children's Day"
International Children’s Day (June 1) reminds us of the vital importance of protecting and promoting the rights of children everywhere. It is also a celebration of their potential to shape a brighter future—and a call to ensure they grow up in safe and healthy environments. At Children’s Surgical Centre, every day is Children’s Day. From our humble beginnings as a small project to care for landmine survivors—many of them children—we have grown into a national referral hospital providing free, life-changing rehabilitative surgery for children and adults across Cambodia.

Since 2017, more than 3,800 Cambodian children aged 16 and under have received surgery at CSC, representing over 30% of our total patient population. We remain committed to giving every child the opportunity to heal, thrive, and dream of a better tomorrow. You can support our mission to offer free surgery to children by donating on our website. It's easy! Just click www.csc.org.

New CSC Blog Post: "CSC Nurse Highlighted by Watsi"
To recognize International Nurses Day, our partner Watsi.org interviewed Danika, a nurse and audiologist who works in the CSC Ear, Nose, and Throat Department. This is what they had to say about her:

"A frontline caregiver, mother, daughter, friend, ENT nurse, and audiologist with our medical partner, in Cambodia. Danika spends most of her time caring for others—her family, her patients, her team. But when asked how she cares for herself, her answer revealed a quiet intentionality. 'I care for my heart and my energy,' she said. 'Because we need both of them to take care of patients and family.'

So how does she refill her heart? 'Sometimes I relax with my family. We go to the sea or to the province to see a good view,' she said, smiling. 'Being with them, those moments, they scare away what’s heavy in my heart.'

One of her favorite places? 'You should visit Siem Reap,' she told us. 'It’s the most popular place. People around the world come to see it.'

There’s a calm confidence in how Danika speaks of beauty, healing, and family—like she’s gently reminding us that taking care of yourself is part of caring for others. There’s so much grace in how she holds space for others—and herself."
Thank you, Nika, for recognizing the fundamental qualities that define an exceptional healthcare provider.

New CSC Blog Post: "Meet Pheaktra Nurse Anesthesia Provider"
"If you save one life, you're a hero. If you save 100 lives, you're a nurse."

Meet Pheaktra, one of our nurse anesthesia providers. She started working at CSC right after she graduated from nursing school in 2011. In 2015, she began training as a nurse anesthetist at CSC, then trained in France in 2017. In 2017, she earned her certificate as a Nurse Anesthetist. Pheaktra can be seen daily in the Operating Theatre, caring for local people who could otherwise not afford surgical care for their disabilities. She offered, " I stay at CSC because it is my second home. CSC always provides new knowledge and additional training."

Thank you for your commitment, Pheaktra!

New CSC Blog Post: "Meet Leakhena ENT Nurse"
"If you save one life, you're a hero. If you save 100 lives, you're a nurse."

As part of our celebration of International Nurses Week, we celebrate Leakhena, a registered nurse in the CSC Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic. She rejoined the ENT team last year after being away for two years, saying, "I missed my job here and my colleagues." Leakhena enjoys caring for Cambodians who have hearing disabilities. For her, every hearing problem that is repaired, a life is transformed. She feels privileged to care for Cambodians unable to afford treatment.

Thank you Leakhena, for your dedication to our patients whose lives are transformed by the care CSC provides to those in need.

New CSC Blog Post: "Thank You Rotary Club!"
Yesterday, the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh gave CSC a check for USD $10,748 to support the care of Cambodian children with burns who need surgery and rehabilitation. Sadly, burn injuries are common in Cambodia in children under the age of 12, and their associated disabilities are tragic. Outcomes of these burn injuries often result in chronic deformities, contractures, and disfigurement in children. Burns scarring often leads to contractures, disfigurement, and disability, requiring skilled surgery to treat the pathology. Phoenix Kids is all about rebuilding the lives of children who have been disabled as a result of serious burn injuries. With the right treatment from the Children’s Surgical Centre their lives can be transformed and their quality of life immeasurably improved. CSC and the Rotary Club have embarked on a successful partnership to assist in the care of Cambodian children desperately needing surgery.

If you would like to support this cause, you may contribute through the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh https://rotaryclubpp.org/projects/phoenix-kids/

New CSC Blog Post: "International Doctors Day"
On March 30, we honor the doctors (even our dental doctors!) at Children's Surgical Centre. We offer warm wishes to the extraordinary doctors who work tirelessly to heal the Cambodian people. They restore mobility and function, provide sight-saving eye surgeries, transform lives with reconstructive surgery, give children with cleft defects a new chance at a normal life, and cure the hearing-impaired.

On this Doctor's Day, we express our deepest gratitude to the caring and dedicated doctors who make a difference in countless lives.

Happy Doctor's Day!

Our Story

The Children's Surgical Centre is an NGO 501(c)3 registered in Alaska, USA (Alaska entity # 76640D). CSC is non-profit, non-political, and non-religious, and is widely recognised in Cambodia for providing a range of specialized rehabilitation surgical services, surgical training, and direct support to the people of Cambodia.

Background Cambodia has gone through 30 years of war and genocide by the Pol Pot regime, in which educated citizens were targeted for ex*****on, causing the medical system to suffer. Many of Cambodia's disabled live in extreme poverty with surgically treatable conditions. Dr. Jim Gollogly, a British-American surgeon, founded Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) in 1998. Since that time, patient numbers and operations have grown exponentially.

Mission CSC aims to improve the quality of life for disabled Cambodian children and adults by providing life changing healthcare. Integral to this mission is a program of training local doctors and nurses, focusing on the development of sustainable health services. CSC provides a wide range of services, encompassing orthopedic surgery, eye surgery, plastic & burn surgery, ENT surgery, speech therapy, and physical therapy.

In 2017, CSC provided more than 25,000 consultations and 4,018 life-changing and life-saving surgeries – free of charge.
