KILT Ngo - Siem Reap, Cambodia
Dear friends of Kilt Ngo, with this post I am reluctant to announce that from July 1st 2025 we will conclude our project with the children of KILT Ngo. Unfortunately, various circumstances (bureaucratic and economic) prevent us from continuing this constant support, which began in 2012.
Our Kilt project was born in December 2012, after my first trip to Cambodia, where I met Muy and Kilt Ngo. Thanks to the synergy between Milto, Paola and myself, we took these children to heart, together we began to create small aids to support the KILT House, sending a monthly contribution for food, school supplies, personal hygiene products, medicines and everything our children needed. With Milto and Paola in the winter of 2012 we began to make our “Khmer Angels” known in Chamois (AO), where I managed the Alpine refuge and Paola was the Councilor for Culture. Already in Chamois we began to have the first friends among the locals and tourists who helped us realize our ideas and we understood that by talking about our children we were doing the right thing.
Since 2014 our dear friends Daniela and Alessandro, owners of the "Riseria Salsa" in Pombia - NO (www.risosalsa.it) , have joined us, who have given a very important contribution, donating every year the "carnaroli rice" (.....and I'm talking about tons of rice donated in more than 11 years!!!) for the "Rice for a smile" initiative, a huge help that has allowed us to realize all our dreams during these years. Among the most important projects realized are the new Kilt house built in 2016, the prosthesis in Muy, the brace in Chanra and other projects described on our FB page https://www.facebook.com/KILTcambodia
Transmitting the love and enthusiasm of wanting to help this Cambodian reality, we introduced our children to friends, acquaintances, customers of "Eurasie Travel" Tour Operator of which I am the travel consultant for Italy (www.eurasietravel.com.kh ), who visited the Kilt House during their tours in Cambodia proposed by us, who fell in love with our "Khmer Angels" and made themselves available to concretely share our projects.....and we became many friends in different regions of Italy and in some foreign countries!!!.
Fate also wanted to introduce us to the Association "ManidiPace OdV" of Lecco (https://www.facebook.com/ManidiPace , Bruna, Jaja, Tina and the unforgettable Fulvia) who joined us to help us in our projects, promoting initiatives in schools in their area, donating their precious contribution for years. In 2019 we proposed the "ramini collection" for our children..... a great success!!!! With many friends and "ManidiPace OdV" (in particular) we collected many coins ("The ramini of love for Cambodian children"), which allowed us to build a playground in the Kilt house, a cistern for drinking water, mosquito nets..... A great satisfaction was also the project created with the middle school of Sassari, where our children and students were able to interact in videoconference, an emotional memory. Our latest project was born in September 2023, the free basic English course for our children and the children of the neighborhood, concluded last April.
During these years we have been supported by the dear Antonella, Laura and Sara of the Armonia Association (https://www.facebook.com/armonia.associazione ) of Cassano Magnago (VA) who gave us the opportunity to introduce our children during their proposed events, proposing meetings and photographic exhibitions, with the complicity of the dear friend and journalist Andrea Pisani, who has always given visibility in his articles to our "Khmer Angels"
Going back over the years and looking at the posts on FB, I realize that we have done many things, even with many sacrifices, especially in the terrible period of covid, where the whole world was stopped, but always considering the love for our Cambodian children as a priority, we have never abandoned them, thanks above all to the precious support of many friends who have always believed and participated in the realization of the proposed projects
I confess that I am not at peace while I am writing this last post, knowing that we are concluding our help after many years fills my heart with sadness, but I have to resign myself, like every beautiful thing, it has a beginning and an end. During these years we never left Muy, Chanra and our children alone, we did beautiful things together and I think we gave them importance, affection, respect, so much love and all the care they needed to grow, to try to give them a better life.
Thinking about our children in these years has been a joy for me, an almost daily commitment with them that has always given me emotions. Seeing these children smile and be happy has been a satisfaction, a gift that fills my heart!!
During these 12 years I have seen several children who have been guests at Kilt House grow up, some get married and have children, but every time I meet these "former children" in Cambodia, now adults, they still call me "Daddy", and this perhaps means that we have left a positive mark in their hearts, this reassures me a little.
I can't tell you for sure how Kilt Ngo will continue in the coming months, I hope that these children have other supporters who will help them
The project will end, but 12 years cannot be erased with a post on FB, my affection will always remain the same. It won't be easy for me, but I don't think it will be easy for you either, to forget in a few days what we have done together in all these years and the love we have given them... and they won't forget it either... We have given love but we have received so much love and affection from them.
I would like to remember and thank the international photographer and friend Graziano Perotti who in March 2015 visited with me the Kilt House and the places that still speak of mines in Cambodia and subsequently published, thanks to the sensitivity and generosity of the then Director of "TravelGlobe" travel magazine online, the dear Federico Klausner, "One mine One life", a reportage of the trip, which through pain transformed it into poetry. From this reportage a portfolio was created, the proceeds of which were donated to the Kilt House. Thank you!!!! Two fantastic people!!
Now I would like to thank everyone, really everyone, for what we have been able to achieve together and thank you, hug you one by one for the love we have given together to our "Khmer Angels". Without your support, we might have stopped our project many years earlier. We should all be happy and proud of what we have achieved together, 12 and a half years is a great achievement, a success!!! Thank you for 💖!!!!!
If you want to continue to support the KILT HOUSE independently and see their projects, follow the link https://www.facebook.com/KILTcambodia and contact MUY SEU. If you visit Cambodia, you will find the KILT stand at the "Made in Cambodia Market" in Siem Reap, where Kilt offers its bracelets, rings, earrings, pendants, bags..... The proceeds from the sale will be a great help for our "Khmer Angels"
Thanks to Muy and Chanra who have dedicated themselves with the love of true parents to taking care of our Cambodian children for years!!!!
I wish Muy, Chanra and our children much happiness, surely there will be other friends who will know how to love them as we did. A special wish for a speedy recovery to Chanra, because our children absolutely need her
A big hug and a big kiss to our children!!!!
Good Luck KILT!!!!
