The past few weeks have reminded us just how important community is. During a time of uncertainty, Safe Haven has been grateful to stand alongside our NGO partners to support families and children wherever help was needed.

Over the last week, we have begun to see some stability return to Cambodia, and this brings a deep sense of relief and hope.

Working hand in hand with 3PC Cambodia and their wider NGO community, as well as REACH Siem Reap and Ponheary Ly Foundation, we have been able to create safe spaces where children can simply be children, provide school supplies, and offer immediate, practical support to children with disabilities and their families when they needed it most.

This is what makes our community thrive — compassion, collaboration, and people showing up for one another.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this community.

From all of us at Safe Haven, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved — the organisers, volunteers, and participants — for your incredible efforts in the tuk tuk parade.

Thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm, an amazing $2,100 was raised to support Safe Haven, with funds going directly toward our outreach programs. We truly love being part of such a supportive community, and knowing that you believe in and stand behind the work we do means more to us than words can express.

We are already looking forward to 2026 and celebrating together again.

Though times remain scary, uncertain, and stressful, it is important that we continue to create moments of joy whenever we can.

This week, we were incredibly fortunate to be visited by the 𝙉𝙋𝙊, 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝘾𝙀𝙋, who shared their love of classical music and live performance with our community. Classical music is not something often experienced in Cambodia—let alone in a village more than 30km from the city.

Our families, and even our staff, were unsure of what to expect. What followed was an hour filled with genuine joy. Children sang, danced, and clapped along, while caregivers eagerly engaged, asked questions, and embraced the performances with wide smiles.

The impact was immediate and heartfelt:

“𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺.”
“𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩.”
“𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭 — 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦.”

Thank you to 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝘾𝙀𝙋 for bringing something so special to our families and for reminding us how powerful music can be in connecting, uplifting, and healing.

Moments like these remind us of something simple yet powerful: 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞. 💙🎵🎻

The past few days have been difficult for many across Cambodia. At Safe Haven, we are deeply aware of the challenges that the current situation brings, especially for children with disabilities and families already facing hardship.

Our team is working tirelessly to ensure that essential support continues. This includes:

💙 Direct Emergency Assistance to families who have had to leave home and find safe accommodations.
💙 Ongoing home visits and care for children with disabilities who rely on our services wherever it is safe to travel.
💙 Family assistance programs, including food, essential supplies, and guidance to navigate these times safely.
💙 Remote support for families living near border areas through phone calls until it is safe for staff to travel there again.
💙 Collaboration with local authorities to respond quickly to any other emergency assistance that may be required in the near future.

We remain committed to standing alongside our community, providing stability, care, and hope when it is needed most.

Today, we join the global community in celebrating the rights, strengths, and inclusion of people with disabilities.

This year’s theme focuses on 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨.

A community where people with disabilities have the same chances as everyone else — to learn, to access healthcare, to work, to play, and to be included in every part of life. 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚’𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮.

But we know there are still barriers that can make life harder, like:

Being treated unfairly
Struggling to find accessible facilities or transportation
Financial challenges
Limited access to education or employment

At Safe Haven, we work every day to remove these barriers by providing therapy, social work support, assistive equipment, and inclusive opportunities so that children with disabilities can thrive.

Together, we can build a future where every child has the support they need to live a full, joyful life.

A big thank you to Ponheary Ly Foundation for donating 15 bicycles to Safe Haven! 🚲💙

So what do we do with these bicycles? Many of the families we support have very limited access to transport. This can make even the simplest daily tasks challenging — getting to the market for food, travelling to health centres for appointments, or taking their child to school.

These bicycles give caregivers freedom, independence, and dignity. They help families move around their communities with ease and ensure children with disabilities can access the education, healthcare, and opportunities they deserve.

Thank you, PLF, for helping remove barriers and bring our families one step closer to a brighter future. 💛

The challenge of securing consistent, high-quality medical and therapeutic care for children with disabilities in Siem Reap is immense. That is why the work of our partner, Safe Haven Medical Outreach, is so vital and relies entirely on community support.

Safe Haven provides thousands of life-changing physiotherapy sessions each year, directly addressing mobility issues and helping children gain strength and independence. Their commitment extends beyond the child, as they also dedicate time to educate and empower their families to continue care at home. This holistic approach is what creates sustainable, positive change. This is the quality of care your contribution funds.

We are honoured to give you an exclusive glimpse into this amazing work at the Safe Haven Community Ride on Saturday, November 29th. By joining us, your donation of just $20 can cover the cost of five hours of critical physical therapy for a child in need.

This year, the world is being called to actively listen to children — to understand their lives, their challenges, and how their rights are upheld, missing, or still being fought for every day. One of the most important rights for every child is the right to education and the right to participate fully in society.

At Safe Haven, we see every day how children with disabilities in Cambodia are still fighting for this right. And we are incredibly proud to stand beside them.

This week, our team delivered school uniforms and education supplies to our clients and spent time speaking with children and caregivers about their school journeys. For many families, the idea of their child attending school once felt impossible. Today, those same children are not only in school — they’re excelling.
