Why Healing Ancestral Trauma Is So Essential
Perhaps the most underestimated source of suffering in the world
is the trauma of past generations.
Transgenerational—or ancestral—trauma.
Trauma is low-vibrational energy. It gets passed on when people die.
It cannot move to the other side because the vibration there is too high.
So it attaches itself to the next generations.
Anger, pain, fear, revenge, attachment, guilt, shame, regret, disappointment, hatred, panic—
all of it gets passed down through your DNA and your energy body.
You have no idea how many of your negative feelings and emotions originate
from the trauma of the generations before you.
And what about your destructive behaviors, self-sabotaging mechanisms,
negative beliefs and thoughts, and the voices in your head?
Much of that has been inherited from those who came before you.
Ancestral trauma also plays a major role on a macro level.
Millions of people in Europe unknowingly suffer every day from the aftermath
of centuries of church and aristocratic domination, and from the impact of World War I and II.
Millions of Vietnamese people still unknowingly carry the trauma of the American invasion in the 1960s and '70s.
In the United States, the trauma of slavery lives on in gang violence and crime in inner-city ghettos.
Immigrants from Arab countries carry ancestral trauma from centuries of oppression
by the Ottomans (and their predecessors), the British, Russians, French, and Americans.
In Palestine, Jewish trauma from World War II is being projected onto the Palestinians,
while the trauma of the Nakba of 1948 is being projected back onto the Israelis.
In the U.S., the trauma of colonization lives on in the Indigenous peoples who remain
in the few reservations left to them.
And the list goes on.
In fact, much of the suffering on our planet is caused by the passing down
of ancestral trauma from one generation to the next.
You, too, are consciously or unconsciously affected by the trauma of your ancestors.
That’s why ancestral healing is so important.
You can heal the trauma of previous generations within yourself—
and in doing so, you not only prevent future generations from having to carry it,
you also significantly improve the quality of your own life.
Moreover, every trauma you heal within yourself is not just healed for you—but for all of humanity.
