Cardio OR Weights?

Cardio burns 10-12 calories/min while running on a treadmill or cycling compared to the 8-10 calories you burn lifting weights. BUT lifting weights gives you a metabolic spike for an hour after a workout because your body is trying to help your muscles recover. That means you'll fry an additional 25% of the calories you just scorched during your lifting routine. So if you burned 200 calories with lifting weights, by the time it's all said and done it's closer to 250 calories.

Even if you don't change your diet, lifting weights will help you lose more weight over the course of a year.
