Week 3 of my series Spring Cleanse, demonstrating yogic detox/cleansing practices.
If you are interested in this technique , please watch my pervious intro to the practice where I discuss the contraindications and risk factors for this practice. Safety first!

One thing I noticed this time was seeing all the asana preparation in action. Im not a yoga proselytizer that says "the practice" must be more than poses. Each practitioner must understand their motivations, intentions and expectations. However, on a very simple level, I see how all those daily body puzzles enabled me to undertake this cleanse: from the simple act of twisting without resistance in my back to having the mental fortitute to sit with the discomfort of being literally up to my neck in water. It is a process of unfolding the 1000 petals of possibilities.

: your students need more options than child's pose!

Not only is putting students' weight on their neck when their curve isn't ready uncomfortable, it can be dangerous.
_
There are so many benefits to the . However, as my teacher Dheesan Sudhakar says, "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect." By breaking from the "pose and prey method" of forcing shapes that aren't ready, we can:
1. Get more benefits from appropriate postures by being able to sustain and breath in them!
2. Preview the posture
3. Empowers the student to fully participate rather than feeling outages because they can't do "it" and are left waiting for the other students to finish. (That's not a short amount of time.)

I hope these are helpful in your teaching arsenal in making your classes more adaptive and inclusive. We are !

So lean into the good of all that guided home practice has to offer: practicing in your pjs, temperature exactly to your liking, surrounded by your loves 💕. You still have a regular schedule (without the stress of ringing the bell when you show up late during the opening prayer!)

I learned of this tennent in my course with Dr. Sravana Borkataky-Varma. I've been marinating on it continuously for the past week. I'm curious as to your reactions to this idea. Agree? Disagree? How does this idea manifest itself in your practice? In your life off the mat? What is your understanding of the divergence of these two paths?

Today is day of 10 of our Ashtanga Challenge- the longest shortest time. I never cease to be amazed watching the best parts of myself, the best parts of my students, manifest through this ritual of practice. I love your light.
