Anchae is a space for women owner(hostess). It is located in the innermost part of the main gate and is usually composed of a main room, an daecheong, a cross room, and a kitchen. The main room of the anchae is symbolically the most important among the interior spaces of high-class houses in the Joseon Dynasty.
An annex is a house built separately from the main building, and is called Byeoldang.
