How does facial fat transfer work?
A facial fat transfer procedure has three stages and can take up to 2 hours, depending on the volume of fat being transferred.
1. Harvesting the fat
Dr.kook will choose the area where the fat will be removed via liposuction (usually on your thighs or abdomen). You’ll be given local anesthesia . Dr.kook will make a small incision in the donor area and insert a cannula (a thin, hollow tube connected to a vacuum), which will remove and collect the fat.
2. Purifying and preparing the fat
The fat cells will be spun in a centrifuge and filtered to remove impurities. Purified fat will be transferred to smaller cannulas.
3. Injecting the fat
Once your face is numbed with local anesthesia,Dr.kook will insert a tiny cannula into the area that’s being volumized, passing it into the treatment area multiple times.
Each pass deposits a line of fatty tissue, until the desired effect is achieved. Once the fat is positioned in its final place, it will have to redevelop a blood supply in order to survive.
