병원은 아픈 기억만 남는 곳일까요? 오늘 서울대병원에서는 희귀질환 가족이 함께 웃으며 사진을 찍는 ‘특별한 하루’가 펼쳐졌습니다. 치료를 위해 찾은 공간에서, 서로를 꼭 안고 웃는 순간을 남겼다는 것. 그 사진 한 장이 누군가에겐 오래도록 꺼내볼 힘이 되겠지요. 희귀질환은 멀리 있는 이야기가 아니라 우리 곁의 이야기입니다. 공감은 거창한 행동이 아니라, 기억해주는 마음에서 시작됩니다.

Is a hospital only a place for treatment?
At Seoul National University Hospital, it became a place to capture smiles.
In celebration of Rare Disease Day, families living with rare diseases were invited to take professional family portraits — turning a clinical space into one filled with warmth, memory, and connection.
Rare diseases are often unseen, not because they do not exist, but because too few people know about them. Through this photo project, the hospital hopes to remind us that rare disease patients and their families are not distant stories — they are our neighbors.
As Professor Jong-Hee Chae, Director of the Rare Disease Center, shared,
“Change begins when we remember that patients and families with rare diseases are part of our community.”
Sometimes, one photograph can become the strength someone carries into tomorrow.
