마침내 돌아온 이들을 위한 단어, ‘귀환( )’
올해 이스라엘이 뽑은 ‘올해의 히브리어 단어’로 이만큼 적합한 단어는 없을 것입니다.
이 단어는 지난 1년여의 간절한 기다림과 외침, 그리고 끝까지 포기하지 않았던 희망이 만들어낸 결과입니다. 2023년 10월 7일, 가자로 끌려갔던 인질들이 마침내 집으로 돌아오던 순간, 이스라엘 국민들과 전 세계의 지지자들은 북받치는 감정으로 그 모습을 지켜보았습니다.
하지만 우리의 기도는 아직 끝나지 않았습니다. 안타깝게 세상을 떠난 란 그리빌리(Ran Gvili)의 유해는 여전히 돌아오지 못한 채 남아 있습니다. 그가 가족의 품으로 완전히 돌아올 때까지 우리의 노력은 멈추지 않을 것입니다.

There is no more fitting Hebrew Word of the Year than “homecoming”, a word shaped by a year of waiting, advocating, and holding on to hope, as the people of Israel and supporters around the world watched with overwhelming emotion when hostages kidnapped by Hamas into Gaza on October 7, 2023, finally came home.
One last deceased hostage, Ran Gvili, remains in captivity, and the fight for his return is not over. We will not stop until he comes home, too.
