Did you know that round back (abnormal spinal curvature) is related to high mortality and can even lead to death? Read more about the devastating condition, and ways to improve.
According to “Hyperkyphotic Posture Mortality in Older Community0 Dwelling Men and women: A Prospective Study, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society” by Kado DM et.al, there was a trend towards greater mortality with increasing kyphotic posture. It was found that kyphotic posture was related to 44% increase in death rate. Abnormal spinal curvature like hyperkyphosis, lordosis, or scoliosis leads to decrease in pulmonary and other body functions, resulting in early mortality.
While these abnormal spinal curvatures are mostly treated with a surgery, the side effects of this spinal surgery includes “ infection, nerve damage, blood loss, bowel and bladder problems, loss of spinal balance, failure of the bones to properly heal and fuse, instrumentation failure and vertebral degeneration in the surrounding levels of the fused section.”
However, even without surgery, conditions can be improved by adapting the "Good Walking" and "Goof Breathing" method in daily routine, (Refer to previous posts for details)
