Shakti flow is a dynamic vinyasa flow, where students focus on the breath in alignment with movement, with the overall focus of achieving balance and happiness. Here are a few Testimonials from my students overseas:
“It was such a treat to have such an awesome and talented yoga instructor in a deployed location! I, along with many other students really enjoyed the class and it gave us a nice ment
al retreat while being in a stressful environment. I really appreciate Lucy’s kind and gentle spirit; it helped me temporarily forget that I was away from home and all my loved ones. I know I can speak for the all the students when I say: we will surely miss having her class when she leaves.”

"Discovering the Pleasure of Yoga
I recently began attending Yoga classes taught by Lucy Carrillo at a US military base in the middle of the desert. Days here are filled with lots of work, chow halls, and blowing sand. Stepping outside is like walking into a convection oven. Being away from family is always tough, and there are few distractions to the day-to-day monotony of deployment, that is until I discovered Lucy’s yoga class. There is no fancy yoga studio here, just an old gymnasium with bright fluorescent lights and a buzzing, whirring air conditioner. Yet each class Lucy fills the room with a perfumed spray and plays a wonderful mix of relaxing music as we work through our yoga practice. The class is hard work, but also a pleasant and relaxing distraction from the daily grind of military life. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross once said 'there is no need to go to India or anywhere else to find peace. You will find that deep place of silence right in your room, your garden or even your bathtub.' I found it in an old gymnasium on the far side of the world." Colonel, USAF
“I have wanted to try yoga for a couple of years but I always thought that I would not be able to do it because I don't have good balance, weaker than I should be, and put simply, I am very clumsy. It didn't not take very long for me to realize that this deployment was going to be stressful, with the heavy workload, long hours, and planning a wedding so I had to find a way to decompress. Yoga has totally done that for me. My first class got me hooked! I loved every part of it, from the poses to the music to the way I felt after the class. Five months later I am doing yoga daily and I am even incorporating meditation into my practice. It has been fun seeing how my body has changed and my mind and spirit has grown. Not only am I more flexible now than any other time in my life but my strength has increased and my core muscles are so much stronger. Also, I really just looked forward to going every Sunday just so I could have a chance to recharge and melt away the stress of the week. Thank you for providing a beautiful and positive atmosphere to learn in and to decompress in.”
