We are so pleased to be with our education partner Cayman Prep & High School today for their annual careers fair where we met with over 200 students to answer their questions and provide them with guidance about careers in the medical, nursing and allied health fields and our Shadow a Doctor program.

A month goes by so fast! Levi Superville and Sophie Watson were both SURF Fellows last summer and returned in July for the more intensive shadowing experiences that the Explorer Internship provides. They have wrapped up their internship today (1 August) and we wish them all the best as they prepare to return to university in Canada for their fourth and final year and take their med-school entrance exams! Have a great year!

We appreciate the time and dedication invested by our consultants in our interns. Our consultants recognise the value of mentoring young Caymanians and enjoy teaching them about their respective fields. Today Leila shadowed Dr. Jasneet Chawla, Junior Consultant - Orthopaedics and Jada and Maria shadowed Dr. Tarun Sheshagiri, Consultant - General Medicine.

Last week, we said "bye, for now" to members of our June cohort of Explorer Interns including Raejan (L) and Reina (R) pictured with Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Paediatric Cardiologist. Explorer Interns are senior university students, many of whom have completed SURF, and are on a medical or allied health studied track. We are hosting 14 Explorer Interns this summer.

Today (30 June) we are excited to welcome our 2025 SURF Fellows to our 10th annual Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship. This year's cohort is a diverse group of Caymanian students from schools and universities in Grand Cayman, the United States and the United Kingdom. We look forward to journeying with them through an exciting month of learning and formation!

Making summer plans? Registration is now open for STEM Day Camp 2025 on 9 August 2025 9:00 AM - 12:00PM at the ARC at Camana Bay. Our FREE camp is for children 10-14 with an interest in STEM. To register your child, please go to https://tinyurl.com/STEMDayCamp2025 .

Please use this form to register your child for the 2025 STEM Day Camp (one child per form).  STEM Day Camp 2025 will be held on 9 August 2025 at the ARC at Camp Bay from 9:00AM - 12:00pm.  Snacks and lunch in included. STEM Day Cam 2025 is completely FREE of charge.

This week we hosted Ella, Isabella, Madison, Ty and Derrick from St. Ignatius Catholic School - Cayman Islands for work experience. Each student is discerning a career in the medical field. The students spent time in radiology and observing surgeries and received an executive tour of our East End hospital as well as a comprehensive overview of Health City Cayman Islands. The students reported that they enjoyed their week and that they are now more inclined to pursue the medical field. We wish them all the best and look forward to welcoming them back to shadow again.

Last week we hosted five work experience students from Clifton Hunter High School and a student from Layman E. Scott Snr High School. The students joined our consultants on rounds, shadowed in nursing and had the opportunities to watch surgeries. The students shared that they enjoyed their experiences and hope to return to shadow again soon, as they discern their future careers.
