We showed up for the Earth the same way it shows up for us, every single day. 🌍💚

🌸 Honouring Women’s Month – Women of DCS Spotlight 🌸

Today, we celebrate Aaliyah McLaughlin, Client Service Officer at the Department of Counselling Services.

As a Client Service Officer, Aaliyah is often the first point of contact for clients seeking support. She helps with appointments, provides information about available services, assists with scheduling, and ensures clients feel welcomed and safe from the very beginning. Her role is about creating a smooth, supportive entry into care and making sure each person feels seen, heard, and respected.

✨ What inspired her:
“I’ve always been drawn to helping people, especially those going through difficult or vulnerable moments. My personal experiences, combined with my passion for mental health, advocacy, and community support, inspired me to pursue this path. I want to be someone who helps others feel less alone and more empowered in their healing journey.”

💬 What she loves most:
“What I love most is being able to make a difference, even in small ways. Sometimes it’s just a kind conversation, a reassuring tone, or helping someone take that first step toward support, but those moments matter. Knowing I can help create a safe space for someone means everything to me.”

✨ Advice she shares:
“Stay grounded in your purpose and lead with empathy, but also remember to set boundaries and take care of yourself. Helping others is beautiful, but it can be emotionally demanding. Don’t be afraid to grow, learn, and take up space in these fields; you belong here. Your voice, your compassion, and your perspective are needed.”

🤩Fun fact:
Aaliyah is a creative at heart; she writes poetry as a way to process emotions, tell stories, and connect with others on a deeper level.

Her compassion and dedication continue to create a safe and meaningful experience for those seeking support.

🩷Thank you, Aaliyah, for the care and authenticity you bring to your role every day.
