There is a LOT of scientific research on Intuitive Eating. In fact, as I’m writing this, I have a new 2021 study open on my screen that shows that intuitive eaters are more likely to have a positive body image, self-esteem and general wellbeing.

The study points out what I’ve been advocating for many years as a wellness coach: people who learn to eat intuitively don’t obsess about food or dieting. They don’t see food (or themselves) as good or bad, and they don’t ignore their hunger cues. Instead they choose good they enjoy, while trusting their body to tell them when they’re hungry or full.

The best part is no more diet drama, anxiety at meal time, shame or guilt, and your body feels energized and weight stable!

Say YES to snacks! Even though snacking has got a bad rep in the past years, snacks can be an important part of your healthy eating journey. It depends WHAT you are snacking on that counts. Fibre and protein-rich snacks can provide a boost of needed energy in the day. A healthy snack can also prevent blood sugar crashes and getting "hangry" - which means less chance of overeating or binges!

A lot of people put a huge focus on *what* they are eating, but not nearly enough on *how* they are eating.

When you shift your focus onto the *how*, you can learn how to tune into your body and notice when you're hungry, full and satisfied - all of which help you make intentional choices and find balance in your relationship with food.

Of course, there are times where you may want to dig a little deeper and figure out what has triggered an emotional response. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But, there are also moments where your coping mechanism is actually perfectly healthy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Taking care of yourself means mind, body, and SOUL. And sometimes your soul needs a little nourishing too. ✨
