PMOS
- Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome

You may have recently heard PCOS being referred to as PMOS, but why the change?

The updated name better reflects the true nature of the condition. While the term “PCOS” focused mainly on the ovaries, PMOS recognises that this condition affects much more than reproductive health alone. Hormones, metabolism, mental health, skin health, and the reproductive system can all be impacted.

The change also aims to reduce confusion and improve diagnosis, as many women with the condition do not actually have ovarian cysts.

This updated terminology came from one of the largest global discussions surrounding the condition, with input from over 22,000 people including women with lived experience, healthcare professionals, and patient advocacy groups worldwide.

At Cayman Fertility Center, we believe education and awareness are key to helping women better understand their health and feel empowered in their fertility journey.

On International Clinical Trials Day, we reflect on the powerful story told in the Netflix film Joy, a moving reminder of the groundbreaking research, perseverance, and clinical trials that made IVF possible and changed millions of lives forever.

From improving IVF success rates to advancing treatments for PCOS, endometriosis, and reproductive health, clinical trials continue to play an essential role in shaping the future of fertility care and evidence-based medicine.

Today, we recognize our team of professional, thank the researchers, and patients whose dedication continues to bring hope to future families around the world.

Not all heroes wear capes… some wear scrubs and work quietly behind microscopes, helping create life one embryo at a time.

Mary, our embryologist, is the steady hand and sharp mind behind the science, carefully nurturing each step of the process with precision, patience, and care.

Her work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is life-changing.

When should you speak up about your symptoms?

If your period pain is severe, stops you from doing daily activities, or doesn’t improve with regular pain relief, it’s time to seek help.

Pain during s*x, ongoing pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, or difficulty getting pregnant are also signs you shouldn’t ignore. These could be symptoms of Endometriosis or other underlying conditions.

You don’t have to figure it out alone, the team at Cayman Fertility Centre is here to support you

Hannah’s journey.

In this part of her egg freezing process, she receives feedback on her follicle count and learns more about her AMH levels, important markers that help guide her next steps and provide a clearer picture of her fertility.

The first steps and fertility checks can bring a mix of emotions, but they also offer knowledge, empowerment, and direction. Understanding your body is a powerful part of taking control of your future.

Every journey looks different, and this is hers.

A gentle reminder during National Women’s Health Week to be kind to yourself and to others.

Fertility journeys are not always easy and are not meant to be walked alone.

In a world where we often see “perfect” moments and surprise announcements, it can feel isolating when your path looks different. But keeping it all in can be heavy. You deserve support, understanding, and space to share what you’re going through.

*Open up*
Whether it’s a trusted friend, a support group, or a professional, talking about it can make all the difference.

*Learn from others*
Around 1 in 6 people experience fertility challenges. Through shared stories, books, or online communities, you can find comfort in knowing you’re not alone.

*Prioritise self-care*
This is a time to be gentle with yourself. Slow down, explore new hobbies, and create moments that bring you peace.

*Nurture your relationships*
Make space for connection, whether it’s a date night or simply an honest conversation. You’re in this together.

*Give yourself grace*
Infertility is a medical condition, not a personal failure. It is shaped by factors beyond your control and does not define you.

Wherever you are on your journey, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Some moments change everything… this was one of them.

What started as a routine appointment for Ally turned into the most unforgettable surprise, twins!

Double the heartbeats, double the love, and a whole new chapter that unfolded for Alexa & Ally. 🤍

We’re so grateful this family chose to share their story, offering hope to others navigating their own fertility journey.

And just like that… these two little miracles are already one.
Happy 1st birthday, River & Carter.
