Happy New Year. A very common sentiment shared at the beginning of a new year. This statement is often accompanied by excitement and anticipation of a year filled with good things. But what happens when the thoughts of a new year brings anxious thoughts and even fear of what may come?
What if the unknowns of the coming year bring more challenges than triumphs? What if the uncertainties ahead cast a shadow on the excitement of new beginnings? What if there are more losses in the futures?
It's okay if the dawn of a new year brings with it not just hope, but also a tinge of fear. Change, even when wrapped in celebratory packages, can be daunting. Sometimes, the weight of expectations—both our own and others'—can make the prospect of a new year feel overwhelming. It is also normal to feel fearful in the aftermath of loss.
But here's the thing: you're not alone in feeling this way. It's normal to have mixed emotions about the future. And amidst these fears, there's an opportunity for growth. Embracing the uncertainty might lead to unexpected discoveries, resilience, and strength you never knew you had.
Remember, it's alright to take it one step at a time, to acknowledge those anxious thoughts, and to find comfort in the fact that the future isn't set in stone. Whatever this year holds, you have the capacity to navigate through it—learning, adapting, and growing along the way.
