Continuing our Heart-Healthy Reds series, today we are focusing on tomatoes. 🍅
With the Cayman Agricultural Show taking place today, Ash Wednesday, you might spot these heart-friendly tomatoes and other fresh fruits and vegetables while you are there.
Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which may support blood vessel health and provide antioxidant benefits, including vitamin C.
Cooking them in homemade sauces, soups, paste, or roasted makes lycopene easier to absorb, but raw tomatoes are also beneficial. Including both cooked and raw can help maximise their heart-health benefits.
