⚠️ Energy drinks & young hearts: what to know

We know that during the lead-up to exam season, the end of term, or other busy periods, children - especially teenagers, may reach for energy drinks to stay alert. But these drinks often contain high levels of caffeine, added sugars, and stimulants that can disrupt a young person’s developing body. Too much caffeine can cause palpitations, high blood pressure, sleep problems, and anxiety (Source: Johns Hopkins Medicine).

Having open conversations about these risks is important. You can also encourage healthier ways to boost energy and focus, such as:

💧 Water – keeps the body hydrated
🍓 Diluted fruit juice – natural sugars and vitamins
🌿 Herbal teas – gentle alertness
🥛 Milk or plant-based milks – protein and B vitamins
🏃 Exercise – supports a healthy heart and helps clear the mind

Small changes can make a big difference for both heart and mind health. 💙

💜 International Women’s Day 2026 – Give To Gain 💜

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in women globally, yet awareness is still not where it needs to be. Once seen as a “male issue,” women were underrepresented in research and clinical trials—making education and awareness more vital than ever.

Give To Gain highlights the ripple effect of giving and supporting others. 🤝

It’s a powerful reminder of the far-reaching benefits of giving back. In the context of heart health, by sharing knowledge and resources, we can help more and more women in the community recognise the signs of heart disease, understand their risks, and take proactive steps to protect their hearts - benefitting them and creating a healthier, thriving community for all, now and for generations to come 🌱.

Small lifestyle steps matter too: move more, eat well, prioritise sleep, manage stress, and keep up with regular check-ups.

We have downloadable resources on Heart Disease in Women and Recognising a Heart Attack in Women to help you take action. Scan the QR code on the last slide below or visit our website to learn more: https://caymanheartfoundation.ky/recognising-symptoms/ 💜

A new month is a fresh chance to prioritise your heart. Small habits - moving more, sleeping well, balanced meals, managing stress, add up over time.

You don’t have to change everything at once. Start with a few consistent steps and build. ❤️
