On Thursday, 2nd October 2025, it was truly a pleasure for Dr. Michelle Mon Desir to share with the panel of speakers at the breast cancer awareness event in West Bay.
With the theme "Early detection saves lives," participants were reminded of the importance of knowing the symptoms of breast cancer and knowing when to get screened.
Ms. Cheyenna Calderon-Hoaglund, a breast cancer survivor, shared her journey back to health with passion, encouraging the attendees to be their own advocates.
Whilst Beverley Eggington, chief administrator of the Cayman Breast Cancer Foundation Breast Cancer Foundation, reminded those in attendance of the support services they provide and demonstrated how self-breast examinations should be performed.
Lion Dr. Andrew Robinson chaired the panel discussion, highlighting the fact that the Lion's Club of Tropical Gardens (LCTG) continues to support awareness of breast cancer in the Cayman Islands and provides free mammogram vouchers to attendees of the meetings during the month of October.
We thank Lions Club of Tropical Gardens for 28 years of their giving to the community in this way, and look forward to partnering with them in the future.
