We are deeply grateful to the UK Embassy for their generous donation, which has enabled us to acquire an Electrolyte and Blood Gas Analyzer for our hospital. This equipment is an invaluable tool in the care of critically ill children at Lao Friends Hospital for Children.

This machine is essential for rapidly measuring key parameters in a patient’s blood, such as pH, oxygen (O₂) levels, carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels, and bicarbonate (HCO₃), which provide a snapshot of a child’s respiratory and metabolic status. This information is crucial for assessing how well a child is breathing and how effectively their body is managing acid-base balance and oxygen delivery.

For our most severe patients, particularly those in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the ability to monitor these parameters is a matter of life and death. During the night, when immediate decisions are often required, the Blood Gas Machine allows our medical team to obtain critical results within minutes, empowering them to make quick, informed decisions that can drastically improve outcomes.

Thanks to this support, our doctors and nurses are better equipped to manage complex, life-threatening conditions in our young patients, ensuring they receive the most accurate and timely treatment possible.
