Have you heard of Ozempic, Saxenda or victoza!

Well these are originally used for people with Diabetes for regulation of their blood sugar and lowering Hba1c. But recently FDA has approved them as a medication for weight loss ‼️for people with BMI >30 or BMI >27 having diabetes or hypertension or other diseases.

So how does these medications work❓
♦️ They stimulate pancreas to secrete more insulin > lowering blood sugar
♦️They slows gastric emptying therefore feeling full and decrease hunger
♦️They affect central nervous system by suppressing appetite and increasing satiety

But that doesn't mean that they doesn't have many side effects ‼️
♦️Gastrointestinal problems as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, acid reflux
♦️Lowering metabolism (when decrease food intake and protein >decrease in muscle mass therfore decrease metabolism)
♦️Central nervous system ; headache, dizziness, fatigue
♦️Some may have pancreatitis, gallbladder stones anf inflammation, hypoglycemia.

When stopping injections what happens❓
Weight regain occurs due to various factors, including a return to previous eating habits, decreased physical activity, and changes in metabolism.
So the most suitable resolution for ur weight loss is changing ur lifestyle and dedication to a healthy diet along with physical activity.

SMART goals for weight loss :

♦️To be specific :what goal needed to be achieved? How many kilos must be lost?

♦️To be measurable: how will u track ur goal? What measures have u met? This is obtained by tracking change in the body composition using the scale

♦️To be Attainable: is this goal can be reasonably attained? Remember that the good goal for weight loss is 0.5 kg for overweight and 1 kg for obese per week.

♦️To be Relevant : make sure that ur goal is Related to ur overall objective.

♦️To be Time bound :give urself a reasonable time frame to achieve ur objective and goal.

Sports Anemia is a false anemia
That happens mostly in athletes, marathon runners, as result of strenous and vigorous exercise.

➡️Caused mostly by:
💥 increased plasma volume due to prolonged exercise.
💥Red blood cells breakdown caused by repeated trauma when feet hitting the ground hardly

➡️Treatment :
💥 most cases is a self-limiting condition and resolves by itself
💥Insure intake of Good natural sources of iron include lean and red meat, green leafy vegetables, beets, fish liver, nuts, fortified cereal, and legumes.
💥Ensure all vitamin intakes are balanced and minerals as selenium, zinc, copper, magnesium,
💥 protein is necessary to maintain a steady level of hemoglobin.

General guidelines for athletes during events to maximize their performance:
💥Eating 3 hrs before an event is very important to allow proper digestion and minimize gastrointestinal upset.
💥Meals should contain carbohydrate, protein and fat, but fibers should be limited!!
💥High fat meals should be avoided
💥Take pre-game snack or liquid meals 1 to 2 hr before an event which helps digestion before event starts, ex:fresh/dried fruit, cereal with milk, juice smoothies
💥Recovery food should be taken within 30 min of exercises (sports drink /granola bars) and again within 1 to 2 hrs of activity to ensure proper recovery.
💥Proper Hydration before, during and after the event.
For activities < 1hr. Athletes should take :
before event 2 hrs (400-600 ml)
Every 15-20 min (150 - 300 ml)
After activity 1.5 L/kg ofweight lost

It is a diet that requires you eat 75 % of your calories from fat, 20 % from protein and only 5% from carbohydrates.
