On September 11, 2025, The WISH Program at AUBMC convened a National Policy Dialogue on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Lebanon, in partnership with Oxfam GB and in collaboration with the Asfari Institute.

This dialogue united policymakers, health providers, academics, and civil society to confront urgent issues: child marriage and early pregnancy, access to contraception, SRH education, digital health, and the pressing need for a national SRHR strategy.

The discussions made one thing clear: SRHR is not optional—it is a right. Advancing it requires policy reform, community engagement, and stigma-free services that reach adolescents, women, and marginalized groups everywhere.

Together, we are laying the groundwork for a national strategy that speaks to Lebanon’s realities, builds and strategizes on small successes, combats misinformation, and safeguards the right of young people to make informed choices and live a healthy, dignified life.

Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services in Lebanon remains limited due to social stigma, gender norms, financial barriers, and geographic disparities. Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs) play a critical role in bridging these gaps by providing affordable, confidential, and comprehensive SRHR care, including family planning, HIV/STI screening, and gender-based violence support. Strengthening PHCC capacity and expanding youth-friendly, non-judgmental services are essential steps towards equitable SRHR access for all populations.

Understanding sexual violence means recognizing the many forms it can take. From r**e and assault to harassment and exploitation, these acts violate bodily autonomy and can happen in any setting. Naming them is the first step to prevention, accountability, and support.
