🔹 Global Advances in Mental Health (GAMH) 2025 – Conference Recap
📍 American University of Beirut Medical Center
🗓️ April 25–26, 2025
The Department of Psychiatry at AUBMC successfully hosted the GAMH 2025 conference, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and trainees for two days of interdisciplinary learning and collaboration.
This year’s program featured a diverse set of symposia addressing key areas at the interface of mental and physical health, including:
• Perinatal Mental Health
• Nutrition and Mental Health
• Psycho-Oncology
• Sleep Medicine
• Skin, Aesthetics, and Mental Health
• Neuropsychiatry
• Seizure Disorders
Each session was led by regional and international experts who shared clinical updates, research findings, and practical approaches to care. The conference emphasized evidence-based interventions and highlighted the importance of integrated care models across specialties.
Workshops and moderated discussions provided a platform for skill development and meaningful exchange among professionals committed to advancing mental health practice and outcomes.

In these challenging times, the Department of Psychiatry at AUBMC has joined the initiative launched by the Primary Health Care Center at the Department of Family Medicine in response to the Ministry of Public Health’s call. With the help of our dedicated volunteers, we are providing Psychological First Aid and screenings. We stand with our people, offering emotional support, a safe space to be heard, and a reminder that no one has to face this alone. Meet Ms. Léa Nakhlé;
Ms. Léa Nakhlé is an occupational therapist dedicated to working with children, adults and geriatric population having physical, cognitive, and mental difficulties to achieve greater independence and functionality in their daily lives. She focuses on enhancing motor, executive functions, attention, handwriting, and life skills while adapting activities and environment to align with patients' occupational goals. Ms. Nakhlé provides her services in both individual and group-based interventions in home, clinical, and inpatient settings. The patient's interest and well-being are at the core of her interventions.
