Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry at the American University of Beirut and the American University of Beirut Medical Center. Our department is a leading academic and clinical resource in the fields of child, adolescent and adult mental health. Our vision is to provide integrated, evidence-based and patient-centered care. Our faculty, staff and trainees are recognized for pioneering research that is informative about our local context, for excellence in training the next generation of leaders in Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology and for advocacy efforts both nationally and regionally. On September 30, 2025, we hosted the session “Supporting Caregivers in Caring for Dementia: Tips and Recommendations” at AUBMC, ACC Board Room, led by Dr. Marc Barakat and Dr. Rita Khoury. 💙

The session provided caregivers with practical guidance on:
🧩 Communicating with patients living with dementia
💙 Offering compassionate care
🌿 Avoiding caregiver burnout

🔹 Global Advances in Mental Health (GAMH) 2025 – Conference Recap
📍 American University of Beirut Medical Center
🗓️ April 25–26, 2025
The Department of Psychiatry at AUBMC successfully hosted the GAMH 2025 conference, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and trainees for two days of interdisciplinary learning and collaboration.
This year’s program featured a diverse set of symposia addressing key areas at the interface of mental and physical health, including:
• Perinatal Mental Health
• Nutrition and Mental Health
• Psycho-Oncology
• Sleep Medicine
• Skin, Aesthetics, and Mental Health
• Neuropsychiatry
• Seizure Disorders
Each session was led by regional and international experts who shared clinical updates, research findings, and practical approaches to care. The conference emphasized evidence-based interventions and highlighted the importance of integrated care models across specialties.
Workshops and moderated discussions provided a platform for skill development and meaningful exchange among professionals committed to advancing mental health practice and outcomes.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the speakers, moderators, organizing and scientific committees, and attendees who contributed to the success of GAMH 2025.
