Scoreboards are simple.
They record points, time, wins, losses.
But they never record what athletes carry with them when they step onto the court.
In Lebanon and across parts of the Arab world, many athletes train while holding realities that are far heavier than competition: uncertainty about family safety, interrupted routines, the constant background noise of instability.
And still, the session goes on.
The match goes on.
The season goes on.
Sport often asks athletes to narrow their focus to the present moment. But when life outside the court is unsettled, staying present is not always simple. It becomes an effort that remains largely invisible.
Behind every performance is a life unfolding beyond the game.
Sometimes the most important part of supporting athletes is simply recognizing that what shapes them does not always appear on the scoreboard.
