He
completed his General Surgery training in Lebanon at Balamand University. He then integrated the institute of laparoscopic surgery in Bordeaux, France under the supervision of Dr Jean Louis Dulucq, pioneer in advanced lapaproscopic digestive surgery (including hernia repairs, hepato-biliary, colorectal and obesity surgery)
He pursued his training at the Université de Montréal, Canada where he sub-specialized in minimally invasive surgery with a focus on Bariatric surgery (Weight loss surgery) for 2 yrs under the supervision of Dr. Pierre Garneau, Dr. Ronald Denis, Dr. Henri Atlas , Dr Radu Pescarus and Dr. Michel Gagner . He received a certification of fellowship in both general surgery and minimally invasive, bariatric and robotic surgery. He performed more than 600 cases of Bariatric surgery including sleeve gastrectomy , gastric bypass , BPD-DS ,SADI ,SADI-S and many cases of revisions . During his fellowship, he also exercised the function of clinical instructor of general surgery and was responsible for the training of Canadian surgical residents, followed up hundreds of morbidly obese patients, published several articles in respected medical journals and participated in multiple international conferences. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
His focus is on weight loss surgery (primary and revisions) and he is an advocate of a multi-disciplinary approach to treat the obesity problem, which is now considered an epidemic.
