Dr. Zaghal is specialized in Pediatric Surgery (Surgery for adolescents, children, toddlers and newborn).
After graduating from the General Surgery training program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) in 2012, Dr. Zaghal joined a competitive two-year fellowship program in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the US, after which he joined Chelsea and Westminster Children’s Hospital in London, UK for another year of fellowship in Pediatric Surgery and Urology. Dr. Zaghal is board certified by the European Board of Pediatric Surgery, where he received “the Best Exam Candidate Award”.
Dr. Zaghal has returned to AUBMC in 2017 as a Pediatric Surgeon and instructor of clinical Surgery. Dr. Zaghal has special interest in minimally invasive surgery in children and neonates, as well as surgical repair of congenital chest wall deformities.
Dr. Zaghal is passionate about teaching; as a resident and fellow he received many awards in appreciation of his teaching efforts, and was selected to Alpha-Omega-Alpha honor medical society membership in attestation of his qualifications. Dr. Zaghal has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, and authored several chapters in general and pediatric surgery.
