Biography
Born in Lebanon’s capital Beirut, Dr. Chadi Murr discovered his passion for plastic surgery at an early age.
It all started from the moment he met a girl child affected with severe bilateral cleft lip and palate. Her parents had few economic opportunities and no capability to seek the help of specialized surgeons.
Dr. Chadi’s adolescence was deeply marked by this girl, watching her undergo one surgery after the other without success. However, her story inspired him to find his calling in life and it was at that moment that he decided to become a plastic surgeon.
Right after obtaining his French baccalaureate from the “Lycee Franco-Libanais” school, he left his motherland and moved to Italy where he studied Medicine at the University of Pisa. He completed his degree with a thesis on ‘Breast reconstruction after skin sparing mastectomy’.
His successful journey continued when he won the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Competition at the University of Siena, where he pursued his specialization studies and graduated with a thesis on “The correction of thoracic deformity in Poland's syndrome, about 47 cases”, with Prof. Carlo D'aniello.
He became a resident in plastic surgery, operating near his Professor Alessandro Massei, considered as the Italian father of Cleft Lip and Palate surgery, as well as other congenital syndromes such as Poland, Pectus excavatum, Hypospadias, and many other reconstructive surgeries.
After three years of working with his Maestro Italiano, Dr. Chadi travelled to Brazil, to the Ponteficia Universitade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, where he met Professor Pedro Diacyr Escobar Martins, the pioneer of Brazilian plastic surgery, with whom he worked closely to improve his skills in cosmetic surgery.
During his internship in Brazil, Dr. Chadi received the excellent teachings of Professor Jefferson Silva Braga in the fields of hand surgery and microsurgery.
He also completed training in cosmetic surgery, working alongside Dr. Kleber Fisch, in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil.
After his specialization, he visited several clinics across Brazil, the most important being the Professor Ivo Pitanguy Institute, the undisputed master of international aesthetic and plastic surgery.
Back to Italy, Dr. Chadi accomplished a post-graduate training period in the Breast-Unit of the Pisa Hospital with Dr. Manuela Roncella.
Afterwards, he returned to Brazil, and specifically to Hospital da Plastica in Rio de Janeiro, where he completed a fellowship with Professor Farid Hakme and benefited from the excellent teachings of Professor Liacyr Ribeiro.
Author of several scientific articles and speaker at various National and international conferences, Dr. Chadi is always committed to move with the pace of change, attending courses in all corners of the globe.
Dr Chadi is also a member of the Brazilian, Italian and Lebanese society of Plastic Surgery.
