A wild hedgehog was recently admitted to our clinic after sustaining injuries from a dog bite. The rescue was carried out by , and we’re now providing the necessary medical care to support its recovery.

Hedgehogs, though well protected by their spines, are vulnerable to serious injury when attacked by domestic animals, particularly dogs. As urban and rural areas increasingly overlap with wildlife habitats, these kinds of encounters are becoming more common.

Beak and Feather Disease Virus (BFDV) – Get Your Bird Tested!🦜

What is BFDV?
A highly contagious virus affecting parrots, causing feather loss, beak deformities, and a weakened immune system. There is no cure, and it can be fatal.

Signs to watch for:
❌ Brittle, deformed, or missing feathers
❌ Beak softening, cracking, or overgrowth
❌ Weakness & susceptibility to infections

Prevention:
✅ Regular vet checkups are essential!
✅ Test your bird before introducing it to an aviary – (Testing available at our clinic!)
✅ Quarantine new birds & maintain strict hygiene

In captivity, it may overgrow if not naturally worn down, making eating and grooming difficult.
