Who is Barbara Nassar
Barbara, a young wife and mother, was diagnosed with breast cancer in metastatic stage in 2009. She had a mastectomy and went through uncountable sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. During summer 2011, Barbara challenged her fear and along with her husband Hany and her two children, Leonie and Leonard, she went on “The Lebanese Flag Trip”. For eighty days, she travelled all over Lebanon and visited more than 1655 villages and towns and collected signatures of mayors on a 10452 dm2 Lebanese flag that she offered to the Lebanese President. She proved that her faith and will are stronger than fear and even stronger than death. On August 16, 2012, cancer spread to Barbara’s brain and more precisely into the meninges. Doctors recommended to stop the treatment because her remaining days were few. Two weeks later, Barbara, on a wheelchair, accompanied her family on a trip won in a TV contest to Bulgaria. One year later, on August 16, 2013, Barbara defied again her illness. From the highest peak of Lebanon, Qurnet el Sawda, she sent regards to her doctors. She was accompanied by her husband and children and one more time she challenged her disease. On February 4, 2014, Barbara, bedridden, witnessed the legal birth of her long-awaited NGO to support adult cancer patients. On February 27, 2014, having secured that her mission will not fade away, Barbara bowed her head and died. Despite pain and suffering, she was always recognized for her genuine smile and inner peace. The association aims at supporting cancer patients and their parents financially and emotionally by covering the costs of medicine and hospitalization through aids and awareness campaigns in order to:
1. Seek enhancing hospitalization conditions of cancer patients in Lebanon.
2. Contribute in ensuring funds to cover expenses for patients in need.
3. Work on moral and financial support for patients and their families.

تحت اسم جمعيّة برباره نصّار لدعم مرضى السرطان
من هي برباره نصّار ؟
زوجة وأمّ شابّة، أصيبت بمرض سرطان الثدي مع انتشار في العظام في مراحله الأخيرة سنة 2009. خضعت لعمليّة تثبيت الرأس برقبتها بسبب وجود كسر فيها. استأصلت ثديها وخضعت لجلسات لا تحصى من العلاج الكيميائي وعلاج الأشعّة.
في صيف 2011 تحدّت خوفها من المرض، وأنجزت مع زوجها هاني وولديها ليوني وليونار، "رِحلة العَلَم اللبناني"، حيث جالت، خلال 80 يوماً، على أكثر من 1655 بلدة لبنانيّة تجمع تواقيع مختاريها على علم مساحته 10452 دسم2. ثمّ قدّمته لفخامة رئيس الجمهوريّة، رمز وحدة الشعب اللبناني. وكانت تشهد أنّ الإيمان بالله وإرادة الحياة، أقوى من الخوف من المرض. لا بل أقوى من الموت.
في 16 آب 2012 وصل المرض إلى رأسها، وانتشر في السّحايا. فطلب الأطبّاء إيقاف العلاج. إذ إنّ أيّامها باتت معدودة...
في 16 آب 2013، إنتفضت برباره، كطائر الفينيق من تحت رماده، ووجّهت مع ولديها وزوجها تحيّة لأطبّائها، عن أعلى قمّة في لبنان، القرنة السّوداء. متحدّية مرضها من جديد.
في 4 شباط 2014 إستحصلت برباره، وهي طريحة الفراش، على عِلْم وخَبَر رقم 237 من وزارة الداخليّة، لجمعيّة تدعم مرضى السرطان البالغين. بعدما اكتشفت ارتفاع كلفة العلاج، الذي يبلغ آلاف الدولارات شهريّاً.
في 27 شباط 2014 وبعد انتهاء رسالتها، حنت برباره رأسها وأسلمت الرّوح. وقد تميّزت دوماً بابتسامة وفرح وسلام داخلي بالرّغم من الأوجاع التي كانت تعاني منها.
أهداف جمعيّة "برباره نصّار لدعم مرضى السّرطان":
تهدف الى دعم مرضى السرطان واهلهم ماديا" ومعنويا" عبر تأمين تكاليف الدواء والاستشفاء من خلال المساعدات والحملات التي سوف تقوم بها لاجل تنفيذ هدفها.
1. السعي إلى تحسين ظروف إستشفاء مرضى السّرطان في لبنان.
2. المساهمة في تأمين الأموال لتغطية النسبة المترتبة على المريض المحتاج.
3. المساهمة في العمل على تأمين الدعم المعنوي والمادي للمرضى واهلهم.
4. المساهمة في العمل على توعية اللّبنانيّين على أهمية الوقاية من مرض السرطان، ومطالبة الدولة بإلزامية إجراء فحوصات الكشف المبكر لهذا المرض.
5. المساهمة في إقامة المشاريع بهدف توفير الأموال لمساعدة المرضى، وتحقيق أهداف الجمعيّة.
