Welcome to the official page of the Lebanese Psychiatric Society (LPS). Our aim is to provide relevant information and updates on scientific, public health and cultural issues of interest for psychiatrists, mental health professionals and members of the general public. History

In 1983 the first Lebanese Psychiatric Society in collaboration with the Lebanese Neurology Society and the Lebanese Neurosurgery Society initiated the formation of "The Lebanese Society of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry” under the administration of the Lebanese Order of Physicians in Beirut. In 1991 and following the initiative by the psychiatrists Drs. Adel AKL Charles BADDOURA, Elie KARAM, Josyan MADI SKAFF and Samir JAMOUS, the current “Lebanese Society of Psychiatry" was born. Objectives

The objectives of the Lebanese Psychiatric Society are summarized as follow:

- To promote Psychiatry in Lebanon as a medical specialty and a branch of Medicine with its unique training and practice.
- To promote Mental Health in Lebanon as a discipline that integrates the different biological, psychological and social aspects of well being.
- To administer and supervise the required training, expertise and accreditation for the practice of Psychiatry in Lebanon.
- To facilitate and encourage research on mental health in Lebanon.
- To organize regular congresses and scientific conferences and encourage exchange of knowledge and research with international experts.

- To provide the psychiatrists and public with the proper standards of care and the ethical guidelines of practice.
-To support the patients with mental illness, fight the stigma about their disorders and educate them about their rights.

- To facilitate the collaboration between psychiatrists and other professionals who are involved in Mental Health in Lebanon and the region.
- To collaborate with the governmental and nongovernmental agencies to set the proper policies and programs for patients with mental illnesses. Executive Committee 2021

The LPS has the pleasure to share the program of the rescheduled Mental Health Day 2023. The 2 days national congress will now take place on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th January 2024.

It is held under the patronage of H.E Minister of Public Health Dr Firass Abiad and in. collaboration with Lebanese Order of Psychologists - LOPsy , National Mental Health Programme Lebanon - البرنامج الوطني للصحة النفسيةand the contribution of many institutions, universities and NGOs.

Registration is at the door free of charge.

Location: Beit El Tabib

CME approved by the Lebanese Order of Physicians.
