DR. DESTANG, The Orthodontist
Dr. Destang has dedicated over 20 years to the field of dentistry, with over 15 years exclusively to the field of orthodontics. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1995 from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago. She obtained honours in orthodontics, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and ethics & jurisprudence.
While practicing her dentistry, she also pursued a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago. She obtained her MBA with a major in marketing and a minor in finance in 1998.
She then continued her studies at the world-renowned University of Glasgow Dental School & Hospital in Scotland where she obtained her Masters of Science in Orthodontics in 2001.
Her orthodontic research at Glasgow University has been highly regarded, with publications featured in 3 of the worldโs leading orthodontic and dental journals โ
Her thesis, "Maxillary Retention, is Longer Better?" has been cited by several authors, and supports Dr. Destang's advocacy of permanent retention to maximise long-term orthodontic stability. See her publications below

Dr. Destang is also highly committed to ensuring that she stays ahead in her field by attending professional meetings with other top orthodontists world-wide.
Her orthodontic expertise involves the use of all modern techniques โ Straight wire, Tip-Edge, Pre-adjusted edgewise, Functional appliances, self-ligating appliances, Lingual braces, a wide variety of removable braces, Invisalign and orthodontic implants. She is a member of the World Orthodontic Society, The American Association of Orthodontists and The World Lingual Orthodontic Society. She is also certified in the use of Invisalign, lingual (behind the teeth) braces, and orthodontic implants.

Dr. Destang is accomplished not only in her field of orthodontics, but also another highly regarded speciality of Aesthetic Medicine & Aesthetic Dermatology. She has received advanced medical training, and holds a Master's degree in Dermatology with Cardiff University, and also a Master's degree in Aesthetic Medicine with the renowned Queen Mary of London University. She became US board certified in Aesthetic Medicine in 2008, and is skilled in the administration of such specialised techniques such as Botoxยฎ injections, dermal filler injections, acne treatments, advanced aesthetic dermatology, laser treatments, and advanced facial surgical procedures.
Her surgical exposure to cosmetic facial corrections began during her dental training under the esteemed Oral Maxillofacial surgeon Professor Eric Thompson (deceased). Dr. Destang completed an additional year of training in her dental program (1995-1996) focusing on honing her surgical skills.
She is also an international trainer, lecturer and educator in aesthetic medicine, with special interest in medical microneedling and skin of colour. Her clinical research and skincare protocols are highly regarded, and have been published in the American Journal of Aesthetic Medicine. Dr. Destang is also a trainer and faculty member with the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, where she instructs other physicians in the use of Botox, fillers, chemical peels, and aesthetic dermatology.
Her flagship aesthetic clinic is reputed to be one of the best in the Caribbean, and conforms to international standards.
