HNB General Insurance - A Disheartening Experience
I feel compelled to share my deeply disappointing experience with HNB General Insurance. Despite having a valid insurance policy in place for my pharmacy, we faced a major setback when a devastating flood struck our business premises. The resulting damage was extensive, leading to significant financial losses.
Immediately upon the occurrence of the flood, I promptly informed HNB General Insurance, who conducted an inspection of the affected property. However, to my dismay, their subsequent official letter stated that the insurance claim could not be honored, despite the incident falling well within the terms and conditions of our agreement.
In response, I sought legal assistance and engaged a lawyer to address the matter. A formal letter of demand was sent to HNB General Insurance, highlighting the inconsistencies between their rejection and the provisions outlined in our insurance agreement. As a result, they acknowledged the need for further investigation and expressed their intention to conduct an inquiry.
After persistent demands for approximately three and a half months, HNB General Insurance finally released the claim payment to my pharmacy business. However, to my surprise, they prematurely canceled our insurance agreement, citing the cause of the flood as the reason. This cancellation occurred with approximately one and half months remaining in the original one-year agreement.

I find these actions by HNB General Insurance to be deeply troubling and contradictory to the terms and conditions we initially agreed upon. Their initial rejection, subsequent delays in payment, and premature cancellation of the agreement all demonstrate a disregard for their responsibilities as insurance providers.
I am sharing this experience to raise awareness and encourage transparency in the insurance industry. Business owners must be cautious when selecting an insurance company and expect fair and ethical treatment when filing legitimate claims. Let us collectively work towards ensuring accountability and better practices in the insurance sector.
