Child, Adolescent and Family Services A service specially dedicated in order provide support and assistance for children, adolescents and

CAF Services is an initiative launched by THEME institute which aims to provide comprehensive psychological support for children and adolescents who suffer from various mental health conditions ranging from behavioral problems to developmental disorders. At present Sri Lanka does not have many centers dedicated to child mental health and even those that are available tend to focus more on psychiatry rather than psychology. We at CAFS hope to promote awareness on child and adolescent mental health, conduct necessary assessments and provide tailor made interventions. Furthermore,we plan on organizing specialized workshops and initiate parent support forums in order to create a platform for parents and caregivers of children where they can get together and share their stories and seek help and support from one another. We at THEME further engage in carrying out multi- disciplinary research in the areas of Technology, Health, Environment, Migration Ethics and Education order to identify the needs and create tangible, people-oriented policy drive to address current
and future challenges in these core thematic areas while promoting mental health in general and Child Mental health in particular. For inquiries write to us on cafslanka@gmail.com or whatsapp on +94 76 406 7004

Painting Saturdays with our favorites ♥️✨ Today their task is to mix primary colors to create secondary colors; a simple task such as this can spark conversations, ignite creative thinking and also help kids understand how we can follow certain rules to achieve different goals and outcomes…

Therapy isn’t just about working through your struggles — it’s also about discovering new parts of yourself, making connections, and growing with others.

In one of the sessions took place today, a client used a self-discovery card deck and invited a few members of our team to join in. What followed was a moment of openness, shared insight, and deep reflection — reminding us that healing happens not just in isolation, but in community too.

Sometimes the most meaningful progress is found in honest conversations, gentle curiosity, and the courage to explore — together.

A few snaps from earlier today, our Founding Director Dr. Giselle Dass at a Roundtable on Digital Mental Health in Sri Lanka, cohosted by the Prime Minister’s Office of Sri Lanka and the eMental Health International Collaborative (eMHIC).

The roundtable focused on digital mental health strategy and implementation, and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in mental health, and discussions to achieve the several objectives in the Digital Mental Health service scope in Sri Lanka.

Exciting to see many professionals getting together in a collaborative capacity to discuss strategies to better provide services for those in need, in the months; years to come.

End of a month but it’s not the end of another campaign… This month, be the one who asks.
Be the friend who listens.
Be the brother who understands.

Because when you say, * ?* you’re opening a door that could save a life.

Let’s create a culture where we normalize checking in!

1 in 4 men experience mental health struggles on an average—but only a small percentage speak up.

Is it because of fear? shame? stigma?

Let’s rewrite the narrative! Let’s normalize asking: ‘ ?’

This Father’s Day, let’s go beyond the greetings and gifts. Let’s talk about something often left unspoken — the emotional wellbeing of fathers.

Fathers carry a silent weight. They are expected to be strong, stable, and steady, often at the cost of their own mental health. Sleepless nights, financial pressures, emotional exhaustion, identity shifts — but rarely do they get asked, *”Machang, are you really okay?”*

This Father’s Day, let’s check in. With your father, your brother, your friend, your partner — anyone silently navigating fatherhood.

Because even the strongest men deserve support, space to talk, and moments of softness.

Sometimes, all that a person need is a chance to open up.
Don’t wait for a ‘sign.’
Reach out.
Be that Machang who checks in.

You don’t always need the perfect words; just being there, sharing a cup of tea, a moment of silence and a listening ear can do more than any advice ever could!

A little emotional throwback to when it all started, December 2016; our first Scribbles, creative art therapy based workshop for kids… Founding Director Dr. Giselle with our constant supporters, Dr. Chesmal and Dr. Kol!
Remembering Dr. Chesmal so dearly on his birthday today; gone but never forgotten, always with us in every step we take.

As we step on to a decade of service next year, we take moments to reflect our humble beginnings, and our dearest friends, family and team who brought CAFS to where it is today! Here’s hoping we continue to drive change, create impact and change lives ♥️

Happy Birthday, Dr. Ches! This one is for you! ♥️✨
