Duration of Use for Sports Tapes – Key Guidance for Sports Professionals

As sports professionals, correct application and duration of use of sports tapes are just as important as the taping technique itself.

🔹 During Sporting Events & Training

For matches or training sessions, sports tape should be removed immediately after the activity is completed. Prolonged use beyond activity can increase the risk of skin irritation and unnecessary compression.

🔹 Injury Management & Rehabilitation

When taping is used for support, recovery, or injury rehabilitation, the tape can usually remain in place for 2–3 days, especially when applied with an underwrap.

If worn for this duration:
🛑 Protect the tape during washing and showering
🛑 Monitor the skin daily for redness, itching, blistering, or allergic reactions
🛑 Remove immediately if any skin irritation is noted

Proud to have served as the Team Doctor of the Sri Lanka U17 National Football Team at the AFC U17 Qualifiers in Chongqing, China (22–30 November) 🇱🇰⚽️

The cold conditions created a challenging environment. My previous experience with the Sri Lanka U20 team at the AFC Qualifiers in Mongolia (2022)—also played in extreme cold, helped me better prepare and support the team during this tournament through careful planning and adaptation.

With 5 matches in just 10 days, my focus was on player recovery, injury prevention, and performance optimisation, applying my background in sports medicine and sports nutrition to support the players throughout the competition.

Grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to these young athletes on the international stage.

කොලොන්නාව ප්‍රදේශයේ ගංවතුරෙන් අවතැන් වූ පවුල් සඳහා සෞඛ්‍ය කඳවුර.

Serving the community at the health camp for flood-displaced families in the Kolonnawa area.
This mural is a strong reminder that we should never divide ourselves by religion or any other difference — we are all human, and we must stand together. ❤️🇱🇰

This was my workstation today, where I did wound dressings for many people — most of them were small kids.
Seeing them made me think of my own children and reminded me how important it is to care for every child like they are ours.

Let’s rise, support one another, and rebuild Sri Lanka🇱🇰 with unity and compassion.

Unity is a Strength. 💪🏼
