UNAIDS Sri Lanka Getting to Zero: Zero New HIV Infections, Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS-Deaths. We all live in a world with HIV, but do we really know what HIV is?

The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), is the main advocate for accelerated, comprehensive and coordinated global action on the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Our mission is to prevent the HIV/AIDS epidemic from becoming a severe pandemic. Knowledge has the power to create equality and respect in the world and our aim is to facilitate this information to you. HIV continues to be a major global public health issue, with 36.9 million people living with HIV globally, and having claimed approximately 1.2 million lives around the world. Recent estimates in Sri Lanka for the first quarter of 2015 shows a rise in HIV cases to 2133 people by the end of the quarter. On a global scale, our nation’s mobilization response to HIV/AIDS has been quite effective. You may not be HIV positive, but everyone is affected by it. Join with us in taking responsibility for the response.
