The Best Products that has been created through it is the Knowledgeable Human Resource that continues to feed the Astronomy hungry community, with their vast experience and information that they have gathered throughout their careers. Old Nalandian Astronomical Society was formed to gather these veteran astronomers under one banner. The Old Nalandian Astronomical Society is an organization focused on providing a platform for the development of young astronomers in Sri Lanka. This Society is comprised of past Nalandians who dedicated their student times to the benefit of Astronomy in both in the school and in Sri Lanka. The members of this society are spread through various professions and fields such as Medical, Management, Media, Academic, Law, Government service and IT Profession. But all of them have gathered together under one banner to fulfill one common goal and that is to provide to the betterment of the Astronomy in Sri Lanka. The Main Objective of this society is to assist the Nalanda College Astronomical Society to carry out their plans and be a solid pillar and a guiding light to their work carried out throughout the year. Since astronomy is a very expensive science to learn and it needs a lot of resources, Old Nalandian Astronomy Society has taken up the responsibility of supporting its student wing financially as well. Another Contribution is to provide training for the students that participate in major astronomy events such as the International Astro - Olympiad, the International Water Rocket Competition and Astronomy based Quizzes. In the future this society will be able to sponsor the students who go abroad to participate in this major events. Also this society has taken up a new challenge of carrying out research in Astronomy. Though it's still in its early stages, some researches show immense progress. The results and outcomes of these researches will be published soon. Other than that, supporting our Brother and sister schools to polish their skills in Astronomy and to give knowledge about astronomy to the general public also lies within the objectives of our society. Old Nalandian astronomical Society with the collaboration of the Nalanda College Astronomical Society has conducted more than 230 night camps throughout Sri Lanka and nearly 50 Night camps Within the Nalanda College Premises. The members of this society has also participated in conducting and organizing quizzes, workshops, day camps, exhibitions and various other activities throughout Sri Lanka. When calculated roughly, the amount of heads that this society has covered by sharing knowledge is around a staggering five hundred thousand, a feat no other society has ever achieved in such a short period of time. Old Nalandian Astronomical Society has big future plans for the betterment of the field of astronomy in Sri Lanka. The dream of this Society is to see Sri Lanka rise up as a proud nation that bows to no other. If feeding the hearts and minds of the young generation of Sri Lanka with astronomy takes a step closer to that dream, Old Nalandian Astronomical Society will make its ultimate sacrifice to make that dream a reality.
