👋 Meet Our New Business Development Intern – Sarina Danwatte

Sarina studies International Relations and Management in Germany and has an academic background in economics, politics, and cultural studies. Her particular interest in German–Sri Lankan relations is rooted in both her studies and her Sri Lankan heritage.

Fascinated by Sri Lanka’s dynamic economic development and its rich cultural and natural diversity, Sarina has developed a deep interest in the country’s growth potential. Her personal connection to Sri Lanka further inspires her passion for fostering international cooperation.

During her semester abroad in Slovenia, she broadened her understanding of global politics and economic dynamics. Having already gained valuable insights into Sri Lanka’s culture and development, Sarina is eager to contribute to impactful international projects.

At AHK Sri Lanka, she supports the Business Development team in a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and promoting partnerships between German and Sri Lankan enterprises.

AHK Sri Lanka successfully hosted its 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 & 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 on October 16th, bringing together representatives from leading firms including D. L. & F. De Saram, KPMG Tax & Legal, Nihal Hettiarachchi & Co, and Sudath Perera Associates.

The session, opened by Chief Delegate Martin Klose, set the stage for meaningful discussions on the committee’s vision — fostering collaboration, sharing expert insights, and supporting cross-sector engagement within the AHK Sri Lanka network.

With strong interest in joint initiatives, knowledge-sharing, and professional growth, the Legal & Tax Sector Committee is set to play a vital role in advancing dialogue and cooperation within the business community.

✅ 𝙎𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙎𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙙

Last week, AHK Sri Lanka hosted a one week delegation to Germany in the context of its Export Initiative Environmental Protection Project on Conceptualisation of a new sewage sludge management concept for a BOI industrial zone in Sri Lanka.

The trip focused on capacity building of four BOI officers and two representatives of the private sector was funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).

Through various site visits and presentations by experts, researchers and solution providers, the delegates gained an insight on treatment innovations and sewage sludge handling in Germany.

𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙎𝙡𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮🌱

As part of the Exportinitiative Umweltschutz (Exportinitiative Environmental Protection) project by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) on sewage sludge management, AHK Sri Lanka hosted an online session together with EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG.

Delegates from Sri Lanka were introduced to the Walheim sewage sludge combined heat and power plant, set to process 180,000 tons of sludge annually, recover phosphorus, and supply district heating to 300 households.

The session also included a trip briefing for the upcoming capacity-building visit to Stuttgart and Karlsruhe (6–10 October).

On 01st October, the VET (Vocational Education and Training) and Project Management Team of AHK Sri Lanka had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. D.M.P.T. Dunawila, Mr. Kosala W. Gunawardana and Mr. Sumith Siriwardana at the Center for Sustainability (CFS), University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The discussions focused on exploring synergies and opportunities for collaboration.

As part of our commitment to strengthening awareness of ESG and sustainability,

☕At our latest 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆 on 29th September, we explored the timely topic of 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 at the AHK Sri Lanka office in Colombo.

Mrs. Kirsten Hardt and Martin Klose shared valuable insights on current requirements, processes, and best practices for obtaining visas, sparking engaging discussions among members, partners, and stakeholders.

The session not only shed light on practical aspects of the visa process but also offered a great opportunity for networking in an informal atmosphere.
