Tap Rugby Tournament Highlights 2025 | Kandy Team

On 11th October 2025, the Tap Rugby Tournament took place as part of Legacy Health’s Kandy Sports Day, bringing together incredible energy and enthusiasm from both players and spectators. The passion on the field was unmistakable, with every team displaying skill, teamwork, and determination cultivated through dedicated preparation.

The tournament featured four teams competing in a league format, with the top two advancing to the final. In a thrilling championship match, the Highlanders showcased exceptional form, securing a commanding 8–1 victory over the Hurricanes to become the Tap Rugby Champions 2025.

Special recognition goes to Mohamed Rishard (Day Shift), who earned the title of Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance and sportsmanship throughout the games.

October, recognized globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was observed at Legacy Health through a thoughtful initiative that brought together women from our teams around the world to share their insights on various aspects of breast cancer awareness.

This initiative encouraged meaningful discussions on prevention, early detection, and the collective responsibility we all share in promoting health and well-being.

From our Chennai team, Hanna Haseena shared her valuable perspective on the crucial role men play in spreading awareness and supporting the women in their lives. She highlighted how encouragement, understanding, and emotional support from men can make a significant difference, whether it’s motivating early screening or standing beside someone navigating through treatment.

Her message served as a powerful reminder that awareness and compassion transcend gender, and together, we can create a stronger, more supportive community for all.

The Legacy Health Netball Tournament 2025 was held on 5th October 2025 at St. Joseph’s College Colombo, kicking off from 8 a.m. as the grand finale of the Legacy Health Sports Season 2025. Enthusiasm was high, both on the court and among the spectators, as seven teams: Team Alpha, Aura, Goal Getters, La Flames, Hoop Hustlers, Seamless Seven, and Team Phoenix competed with remarkable skill and determination.

After fiercely competitive initial rounds, Seamless Seven and Team Phoenix advanced to the final match, which proved to be one of the most exhilarating contests of the tournament. With the strategic precision of Seamless Seven and the dynamic energy of Team Phoenix, the game kept everyone on the edge of their seats. In the end, Seamless Seven emerged as the Netball Champions 2025, with Team Phoenix as a spirited runner-up.

Isuri Liyanage, titled Netball Queen, showcased exceptional technique, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, earning well-deserved recognition.

The Legacy Health Sports Season is more than a series of competitions; it is a celebration of connection, camaraderie, and holistic well-being. Through these initiatives, employees are given the opportunity to engage in physical activity, strengthen bonds beyond the workplace, and enhance their mental and emotional resilience.

October marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and at Legacy Health, we took this opportunity to reflect, learn, and advocate for women’s health through a meaningful global initiative. Women from our teams around the world came together to share their personal thoughts and perspectives on breast cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection, self-examination, and open conversations.

From our Colombo team, Chathuri Wimalanaga shared a powerful message on the significance of taking proactive steps to ensure early diagnosis. She reminded us, that women, often seen as the natural caretakers of families and communities, must also extend that same care to themselves. Her message served as a gentle yet impactful reminder that self-care is not selfish: it is essential.

Through this initiative, we continue to stand united in spreading awareness, supporting those affected, and inspiring preventive action across our global teams.

Legacy Health, in partnership with Appe Lanka, is honored to launch a heartfelt initiative aimed at empowering young minds in underprivileged communities. Through this project, we will be providing 750 children in Poonakary, Kilinochchi District, Northern Province, Sri Lanka with a set of exercise books for each child, helping them pursue their education with confidence, curiosity, and hope.
