World Tai Chi Day was celebrated by the Sri Lankans today, 26th April at the Independence Square at 9.00AM.
The event was hosted by the Embassy of China and the ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka.
The main organizer of the event is the Sri Lanka Health Qigong Association with the co organizer of Sri Lanka Wushu Federation.
The purpose of the event is to spread the philosophy of Tai Chi in to the local community whilst connecting with the rest of the world.
There were about 200 taichi practitioners attended the event.
His Excellency, the ambassador of China along with the Minister of Sports and youth affairs, and the Deputy Minister of Education graced the occasion.
