A productive workshop on Healthcare Waste Management was successfully held on 21st May 2026 at District General Hospital Embilipitiya under the leadership and guidance of Hospital Director Dr. K. Jeyassuthan.

The session was conducted by Dr. M. M. Remance, Registrar in Medical Administration, who served as the resource person for the program.

The program commenced with a field visit to several departments of the hospital, where participants observed the existing healthcare waste management system in practice. This was followed by an interactive lecture focusing on effective waste management practices and practical strategies to further strengthen hospital waste management systems.

The workshop was highly informative, interactive, and beneficial for all participants, highlighting the importance of proper healthcare waste management in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient hospital environment.

We sincerely extend our appreciation and gratitude to Dr. M. M. Remance for his valuable time, effort, and contribution towards making this program a success.

ඇඹිලිපිටිය ශ්‍රී බෝධිරාජ ධර්මායතන දහම් පාසලෙන් කරන ලද ඉල්ලීමකට අනුව, ඇඹිලිපිටිය දිස්ත්‍රික් මහ රෝහලේ සෞඛ්‍ය ප්‍රවර්ධන ඒකකය මඟින් සංවිධානය කළ විශේෂ සෞඛ්‍ය අධ්‍යාපන වැඩසටහන පසුගිය මැයි 17 වන දින සාර්ථකව පවත්වන ලදී.

නිරෝගී සහ සුරක්ෂිත සමාජයක් බිහිකිරීමේ අරමුණින් ක්‍රියාත්මක වන අප රෝහල් සෞඛ්‍ය ප්‍රවර්ධන ඒකකය මඟින් මෙහිදී පහත කරුණු පිළිබඳව ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේලා, දහම් පාසල් දූ දරුවන්, සහ ගුරුභවතුන් දැනුවත් කරන ලදී:

එදිනෙදා ජීවිතයේදී සහ පාසල් පරිශ්‍රයේදී සිදුවන හදිසි අනතුරු වළක්වා ගැනීම.

අනතුරක් සිදු වූ වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක විය යුතු නිවැරදි ප්‍රථමාධාර ක්‍රමවේද.

හදිසි අවස්ථාවකදී නිවැරදිව තීරණ ගනිමින් ජීවිතයක් සුරැකීමට දායක වන ආකාරය පිළිබඳ ප්‍රායෝගික පුහුණුව.

වැඩසටහන සඳහා ඉතා උනන්දුවෙන් සහ ක්‍රියාකාරීව සහභාගී වූ ශ්‍රී බෝධිරාජ ධර්මායතන දහම් පාසලේ සියලුම ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේලා දූදරු, ගුරුභවතුන්ට සහ මෙයට දායකත්වය දැක්වූ අප රෝහල් කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට අපගේ හෘදයාංගම ස්තූතිය පිරිනමන්නෙමු!

ඇඹිලිපිටිය දිස්ත්‍රික් මහ රෝහල් පවිත්‍රතා අංශය සහ ඇඹිලිපිටිය නගර සභාව එක්ව 2026.05.16 වන දින රෝහල් ප්‍රවේශය සහ ඒ අවට පරිසරය පිරිසිදු කර අලංකාර කිරීමේ විශේෂ ඒකාබද්ධ ශ්‍රමදාන ව්‍යාපාරයක් සාර්ථකව පවත්වන ලදී. ඩෙංගු රෝගය පාලනය කිරීම සහ ව්‍යාප්තිය වැළැක්වීම ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ කරගත් මෙම වැඩසටහන සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමටත්, සැමගේ සෞඛ්‍යාරක්ෂාව වෙනුවෙන් මෙම පිරිසිදු පරිසරය තවදුරටත් එලෙසම පවත්වාගෙන යාමටත් සහයෝගය දක්වන ලෙස අප මහජනතාවගෙන් කාරුණිකව ඉල්ලා සිටිමු.

District General Hospital Embilipitiya celebrated International Nurses Day 2026 on May 12 at the hospital auditorium. In line with the global theme by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) "Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives" the event honored the unwavering dedication and vital role of our nursing team.

​The celebration was graced by the Hospital Director and Consultants, whose inspiring speeches highlighted the future of nursing and patient care. Adding to the festive spirit, our talented nursing staff took to the stage with several wonderful entertainment performances. It was a proud day for the entire hospital community to stand together in appreciation of those who are the heartbeat of our healthcare system.

This memorable celebration was organized under the guidance of the Special Grade Nursing Officers, with the support of Heda Hedi Ekamuthuwa – DGH Embilipitiya

🌍💙 International Nurses Day 2026 – Embilipitiya District General Hospital 💙🌍

On May 11, 2026, in honor of International Nurses Day (celebrated globally on May 12), the nursing officers of Embilipitiya District General Hospital conducted a Public Awareness Program at the Outpatient Department.

This impactful program covered a wide range of essential health topics, including:

ඇඹ්ලිපිටිය දිස්ත්‍රික් මහ රෝහල් අධ්‍යක්ෂතුමාගේ විශේෂ ඉල්ලීමකට අනුව, ඇඹිලිපිටිය නගර සභාවේ සභාපතිතුමා, තාක්ෂණික නිලධාරී, හා මහජන සෞඛ්‍ය පරීක්ෂක ඇතුළු නිලධාරී පිරිසක් පසු ගිය දින රෝහල අවට විශේෂ නිරීක්ෂණ චාරිකාවක නිරත විය.
​රෝහල අවට පවතින පාරිසරික ගැටලු පිළිබඳව මෙහිදී විශේෂ අවධානයක් යොමු වූ අතර, අපගේ ඉල්ලීම පරිදි ඉතා කඩිනමින් පැමිණ ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගැනීමට මැදිහත් වූ නගර සභාවේ සියලුම නිලධාරීන්ට අපගේ ගෞරවනීය ස්තූතිය පිරිනමමු.

At the special request of the Hospital Director, the Chairman of the Embilipitiya Urban Council, the Technical Officer, Public Health Inspectors, and other officials recently conducted a field inspection of the hospital surroundings.

​The visit focused on addressing environmental concerns around the hospital. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Urban Council officials for their prompt intervention and commitment to taking swift action.

An insightful teaching session on Cyclophosphamide Administeation was successfully conducted on May 6, 2026, for the nursing staff.

We were honored to have Dr. Lakshi Gunasekara, Consultant Clinical Oncologist, lead the session. Her expertise provided our team with vital knowledge on administration protocols, safety measures, and patient care management.

Continuous professional development is at the heart of our mission to provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to our patients.

A big thank you to Dr. Gunasekara and all the participants for their commitment to clinical excellence.

Advanced Nursing Competencies for Emergencies Workshop was successfully conducted on 3rd May 2026 at District General Hospital Embilipitiya.

Organized by the Quality Management Unit and the Planing unit, held under the leadership and guidance of the Director, this program strengthened the knowledge and skills of our nursing staff in managing emergency situations.

We sincerely thank all resource persons for their valuable contributions, as well as all participants for their dedication to improving patient care.
