A clinical lecture demonstration featuring an engaging case presentation by Dr Haresha Vidanapathirana, Paediatric Registrar will be conducted.

The GMA Infectious Diseases Forum was held on the 12th of February 2026 at the GMA Auditorium.

An engaging and clinically rich session on “Lines & Tubes: Safe & Wise Use” was conducted. This session focused on preventing device- and nutrition-associated infections in the critically ill—moving beyond age-old traditions.
The GMA extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr Bhagya Piyasiri, the coordinator of the Infectious Diseases Forum, for meticulously organising this fruitful session.

The GMA Paediatric Registrars' Forum was successfully held on 6th of February 2026 from 11.30 am onwards at the GMA Auditorium.

Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena and Dr Helen Wu delivered very informative and valuable sessions on strengthening the Postgraduate Paediatric Training in Sri Lanka.

This forum was well attended by the Postgraduate trainees in Peadiatrics.

Dr Imalke Kankananarachchi moderated the session.

The GMA extends gratitude to the renowned speakers, the moderator, and the organising committee for conducting this valuable session to guide the postgraduate trainees at National Hospital Galle.

The 7th edition of the Galle Medical Association Premier League (GMA-PL) was successfully concluded on 4th February 2026 at the Engineering Faculty Grounds, Hapugala, with enthusiasm and competitive spirit.

Once again, GMA-PL proved to be one of the most anticipated annual events in the GMA calendar, blending cricketing excellence with fellowship among members and their families.

Galle Medical Association successfully conducted the Monthly Speciality Update for January 2026 in Internal Medicine. The topic was " Neurology Without Maps".

The patient story was presented by Dr Madura Gunawardena, Registrar in Medicine.

A comprehensive and insightful discussion was led by Dr Arosha Abeywickrama, Consultant Physician and Dr Sahadevan Vithoosan, Consultant Neurologist of National Hospital, Galle.

This discussion was followed by a SLIDO based Quiz conducted by Dr Shakthi Gunawardena, Senior Registrar in Internal Medicine.

✨The inaugural session of “Learning from Legends” was held successfully on 6 January 2026 at the GMA Auditorium.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by the esteemed and renowned clinician Dr. Satish K. Goonesinghe on the topic “The Thread of Resolve: Driving a Career, Advancing in the Profession.”

The session was expertly moderated by Professor Lakmal Fonseka.✨

The Presidential Induction Ceremony 2026 of the Galle Medical Association - “Honouring the Past & Envisioning the Future“ was held successfully, marking a new chapter in leadership while honouring the legacy of past Presidents.

Dr Ganaka Senaratne was inducted as the President of Galle Medical Association for the year 2026 by Prof MB Samarawickrama, the President GMA for the year 2025 .

First three Presidents of the GMA Emeritus Prof PL Ariyananda, Dr Sarath Gamini De Silva and Emeritus Prof Harendra de Silva were felicitated.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all distinguished guests, members, and colleagues joined us for this occasion.
