குழந்தையின்மை என்பது இன்று உலகளாவியரீதியிலும், இலங்கை போன்ற வளர்ச்சி அடைந்து வரும் நாடுகளிலும் பொதுவாக் காணப்படுகின்ற ஓர் சமூக மருத்துவ பிரச்சனை ஆகும். வடமாகாணத்தில் இப்பிரச்சனை தொடர்பாக யாழ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் மருத்துவ பீடத்தின் பெண்நோயியல் மகப்பேற்றுத் துறையானது சேவை வழங்குதல் (service delivery), இச்சேவையில் ஈடுபடுவோர்களின் திறனை கூட்டுதல் (capacity building), ஆராய்ச்சிகள் ( Research)மற்றும் சமூக விழிப்புணர்வு (Health education) என்பவற்றை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது. இது தொடர்பான ஒரு பதிவு கீழே இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
