larynx or mouth), harsh voice, breathy voice, hoarse voice)
3. Neurogenic speech disorders (cerebral palsy, childhood apraxia, adult apraxia,
dysarthria)

1. Child language disorders (autism.PDD, PDD-NOS, down’s syndrome, expressive

පවත්නා Covid 19 තත්ත්වය යටතේ speech therapy සේවාව ලබාගැනීම ගැටළු සහගත වේ. එමනිසා online ක්‍රමයට speech therapy කිරීම එක්තරා ආකාරයක පිළියමක් වේ. මෙය දරුවන්ට, දෙමාපියන්ට, වැඩිහිටියන්ට මෙන්ම කථන භාෂා චිකිත්සකටද නවමු අත්දැකීමක් වෙයි.

Speech Rehabilitation in Stroke Patients

Question:
What are the difficulties faced by stroke patient in order to express themselves?

Answer:
Some won’t be able to talk at all. Some can talk but others won’t understand. Some won’t be able to talk clearly (slurred speech).

Q: What can we do to help them?
A: Guide them to a speech therapist

Q: To what extent can speech therapy help them?
A: Stimulation and regaining speech takes time. It all depends on the severity of the disability and the commitment of the patient and the family.

Q: How soon speech therapy should be started?
A: As soon as possible.

Q: Apart from speech therapy, what else can a speech pathologist
can offer to a stroke patients?
A: Some stroke patients suffer from difficulty in swallowing
(dysphagia). Speech pathologist can evaluate and guide through
more effective techniques to assist swallowing.
